My subtitles  are srt files in the same folder as the movie and with the exact same name (except for extension).  So I get to see them using

  1. VLC player on Windows
  2. on the LG WebOS TV if the files are coming from a USB drive

I don't see the, using

  1. Emby web client on Windows
  2. Emby client on Android
  3. on LG WebOS TV if the files are via DLNA access to the Emby server

I feel there must be some simple detail I have missed but don't know what.  Would value any help.

Thanks Luke for the reply. I have now discovered more.  In the web client if I select a movie, the click options and select the CC button labelled Edit Subtitles, I see the subtitle file(s) listed - so there is no problem with naming.  Then I find

  1. using web client on Windows if I start the movie playing one of the buttons at the top right is CC and if I click it  find that subtitles are Off but I can select any available and they show up.  Question - can they default to On?
  2. Android Emby Client - similar but when the movie is playing there is an options button in the bottom margin and it leads to subtitles and they play OK
  3. Using DLNA on the LG WebOS TV when the movie is playing a subtitle option displays but clicking it does not offer available subtitle files, so I cannot get them.  Since mostly I want to watch on the TV this is disappointing.  If anyone can suggest things to try I will give it a go.

Thanks.

Have you made your user settings for subtitles?
