jamvids 38 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Recently I had to update my phone, I opted for a Z5 premium, which got £200 knocked off a sony 4K 49" 800Hz android TV (Don't mind if I do) After a week of playing with the Android TV app all I can say is brilliant work, love it, best client yet. The music handling is my favourite bit everything smooth and quick looks devine. I was wondering for future would it be possible to use it to control CC audio devices and groups of them. That sound with multi room and that display would be great, and be able to run photo slide shows would be nice too. As for video, DTS, AAC sound handling would be the icing on the cake. jamvids 38 Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Oh and video backdrops too Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk
ebr 16169 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 Thanks . You can play a photo slide show now with music going. Just start your music and then navigate to your photo folder and start the slide show. The music will continue playing in the background. Also, both DTS and aac audio should be delivered now as 5.1 assuming your equipment can receive multi-channel PCM streams (some sound bars cannot).
jamvids 38 Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 Yeah, my receiver can do that, but I only get stereo pcm Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk
ebr 16169 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Make sure your audio mode is set to "direct" and not "compatible". If that doesn't solve it then it may be a limitation with the TV itself.

My older model plays everything perfectly via dlna apart from 5.1 aac. The new one passes through dts from the xbox 1, so can use that for now. Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk

Not totally true. Awaiting VLC update so that Dolby D passthrough is available to my TV/Sonos like it is with Kodi and the Emby for Samsung Smart TV app.
ebr 16169 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Not totally true. Yes it is. Also, both DTS and aac audio should be delivered now as 5.1 assuming your equipment can receive multi-channel PCM streams (some sound bars cannot).
CBers 7450 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Yes it is. The Emby for Android TV app cannot currently do DD pass-through in the same way that Kodi and the Emby for Samsung Smart TV app does using exactly the same audio/tv/hardware configuration. I also get DD pass-through from my Xbox One, so it's definitely not a limitation on my Sonos PlayBar. Maximizing PLAYBAR Sound from your Television PLAYBAR Requirements
jamvids 38 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 I do get AC3 dd pass through on some videos, but not all. Like I say, on my old (2014) sony everything works (not aac 5.1, it goes stereo) really well via dlna, in fact I can't remember the last time I used CC for a video. My new Sony will only play music via dlna at the moment, and why do that when there is a built in CC and Emby, both look great. To say that these codecs have been around for an eternity you would have thought that both android and sony would be able to play them, instead of giving the devs the headache. Frustration for now, I am sure everything will come good. Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk

CBers 7450 Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 I didn't say anything about DD pass-thru. Fair enough Will VLC be able to do it at some point, do you think?
