DxCx 0 Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Hi All, ch I've been using Emby for a year now, everything was working smoothly. one day, i've updated my Emby server, and since then i cannot see subtitles properly. example: I've attached relevant log files. So if someone is familiar with this issue and can throw a tip, i'll be glad to hear. P.S my server is running arch linux as a host. transcode-deb3abb7-0a79-4908-b687-e57c132506df.txt

DxCx 0 Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 You are right, those are Hebrew subtitles, windows-1255. Do you need an example file?
DxCx 0 Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 Mnd, what do you mean? Just seen i missed your comment this morning
bluemonkey07 590 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 That screenshot looks like a 'wheel of fortune' clue
Luke 42083 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 if you encode the files in utf8 do they appear correctly?
bluemonkey07 590 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 (edited) Oh lol that's star wars new hope.wow! Really? I meant the way the subtitles are displaying , and I'm pretty sure that is what MndWrp was alluding to Edited December 25, 2015 by Vidman
DxCx 0 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 if you encode the files in utf8 do they appear correctly? Yep, correct.
DxCx 0 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Help? I don't mind to debug on my own but please provide some pointers.. :/
Luke 42083 Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 We'll look into the encoding but for now i would save them as utf8 until we have an update. thanks.
DxCx 0 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Well, ATM I just don't play them with emby Running the movie trough kodi's system storage works. (Instead emby plugin for kodi) But it breaks the reason I'm using emby.. I couldn't find any documention or extra logs regarding this flow. I know I can start dig in deeper and solve it myself, but if you can provide some documention of the flow or any helpful pointer (the function x decideds which encoding and then you can see it in log y) I can go and do it myself, then commit the change... I am a developer myself..
DxCx 0 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 Ok, latest update: Went to kodi emby plugin settings, found 'Play from HTTP instead of SMB' is enabled by default. After disabled it, it is working as expected. However, on web/phone I still have the encoding issue so that's only solved what was urgent for me.
