imadunatic 28 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 I've been having intermittent issues (locked up at spinning wheel screen) with the app on firetv. Clearing the cache and data usually gets the app to start, but I'd like to investigate the issue closer; however, I can't seem to find the log location on the firetv. I checked the usual places with no luck... Can someone point me to the directory? The location specified in the wiki for Android doesn't exist on my firetv.
ebr 16169 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 The app writes to the standard logcat on the device. What generation is your Fire?
ebr 16169 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 There is a "send logs" function in the app but, unfortunately, it doesn't work on the 1st gen Fire so that will be no help. So, you'll have to explain in great detail exactly what is happening.

Who knows, it may fix itself with the OS upgrade. In a nutshell, (and I'm not looking for support based on this), it will fire up, get to the grey "spinny circle thing" and eventually the circle stops spinning and it just sits there. Never gets to the login screen or any other menu and it doesn't do this every time, most of the time it just fires up and works. Also, this device is only used remotely. If I remember to bring it home one of these weeks, I may try it there and see if it exhibits the same behavior. Thanks for the reply.
ebr 16169 Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Based on that description I'm almost sure the problem is that it cannot connect to the server to which it is configured to log in. I've just recently fixed the fact that the app hangs in that instance and will, instead, return you to a server selection screen.
imadunatic 28 Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 Thanks EBR. I'll just be patient and wait for Amazon to update the OS as well as the app update; sounds like we can expect an OS update in February-ish.
