Spaceboy 2573 Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I'm hoping to start using the NP as my player on my main tv, replacing emby for kodi, and one thing i am surprised to have not seen requested is better functionality around the live tv row. The "On Now" row in android has a button to take you to the full guide, a button to take you to recorded tv and then a number of suggested live tv programs which are currently on. I'd much prefer the now on programs to be replaced with the most recently recorded items as i'm far more likely to want to watch one of them than something which is now on, in fact if there was something now on that i'd want to watch then i'd definitely want to start this from recorded tv and begin at the beginning not wherever it is now. ideally we could have a button similar to the roku where you could flick between now on and recently recorded while remaining on the main screen but i'd be happy to take an option in the setup to do this more permanently. please let me know if this isn't clear, cheers
ebr 16169 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 I would not favor replacing the current row but adding another one makes a lot of sense. 1
Spaceboy 2573 Posted December 25, 2015 Author Posted December 25, 2015 I'll gladly accept that offer! Happy Christmas!
ebr 16169 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 The latest beta now has a recent recordings row on both the home screen and in the Live TV view.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Just saw that on switching on today, brilliant and thanks! Can I ask for another? [emoji3] When you bring up a recorded tv item it would be really great if below the immediate screen with details, play, favourite etc, any other recordings from the same series were shown. This would then mimic wmc by grouping recordings. Could you even group live tv recordings everywhere? Longer term are there plans to lookup live tv metadata from tvdb and link / integrate them with stuff in the tv library? No idea how this would be done, just throwing it out there
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 @@ebr is it possible for you to take a quick look at this and see if you can give us any pointers? Struggling to get direct streamed live tv and any recorded tv working on android and t.andre does not have an np. Just to make use of your work above! Cheers http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/16771-%5BDEV%5DDVBLink-Live-TV-Plugin/page__view__findpost__p__281968
ebr 16169 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 The "All Recordings" row in the Live TV view shows all of your recordings within their groups.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 It does but sometimes there can be multiple recordings from a series on the same day.
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 It does but sometimes there can be multiple recordings from a series on the same day. Yes, but in the context of just showing you the last x number of items that were recorded, I think it makes more sense for them to be listed individually for a quick eye scan and grab without having to drill down.

But that was really a secondary suggestion to the main request of having other recorded tv items from the same series shown underneath the play screen of the item selected. I think this is more valid as I may not be up to date with the series and want to go back a few episodes. This also solves the above to some extent
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm not sure that there is always sufficient info on the front screen without drilling down to distinguish between them? Do you have the info panel turned off? But that was really a secondary suggestion to the main request of having other recorded tv items from the same series shown underneath the play screen of the item selected. Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 Do you have the info panel turned off? Yeah, that's a good suggestion and I will look into it. no, info panel was on, but ignore that, very happy you will look at the other suggestion
ebr 16169 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to do the "Other recordings" thing at this time. Sorry.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to do the "Other recordings" thing at this time. Sorry. No problem, can it go on the list for future consideration?
ebr 16169 Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 We just don't have the information in that contex to be able to do it.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Fair enough, well then I guess I go back to some of my earlier musing, is live tv going to be integrated fully such that things like this might be possible?
ebr 16169 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 What we want to do is have it be more a real part of the library. That is, when you set up a recording, it just goes right into the normal library as a movie or TV episode instead of as a recorded TV item in a separate area. So, that is the direction we will eventually head in.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Sounds good, it's going to require some careful thought though, I tend to record quite a bit and I wouldn't want it all adding to the permanent tv library, perhaps it would only transfer recordings where the series already exists in the library. Or when you schedule the recording it would ask you if you want this series / recording adding to the library? Plus I tend to only transfer items to my tv library when commercials have been edited out, how could that be handled? But to have full integration where a recording would be skipped because it already exists in the library would be great! Lots more ideas and potential pitfalls running around my brain!
ebr 16169 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Right, there are a lot of scenarios to work out. Right now, I favor you telling the system where to put it at the time you setup the recording. This would allow you to target different series to different library locations (like kids vs. adult). 1
