External Hard Drive Help

Recommended Posts

Why can I not add a movie folder from an external hard drive. I keep getting the message Please ensure the path is valid and the Emby Server process has access to that location. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't use Emby with an external hard drive the program is useless.

Is the external hdd on the same system as emby server? How are you trying to add it?

It has to actually be attached and available to the system when you add it.  After that, you can take it off-line.

Is your laptop the same device the server is running on? If not, you need to share and provide permission to the account that is running the server.

How are you running your server? As a service or as an app?

Using Emby for WMC and the server app that runs in the background I guess.
