Is this barebone system enough to run Emby Theatre BR rips with HD audio?

You didn't link the system. However almost any system built in the last five years will have video processing built into the system. The Raspberry Pi is about as barebones as you can get and it can show HD video with audio.

Well, how about one of these? Just £50.19 so you can save yourself a packet getting this instead! Good reviews too!

Both computers above basically have the same capabilities and would be able to handle both HD video and audio. Whether the audio is HD or not depends on whether you can output it along with the video on the HDMI port or have to rely on the mini-din stereo connector. Neither of them support optical audio.
