Automated permanent transcoding to a generally useful format

Is it possible to have Emby automatically, maybe during the auto org process, transcode things permanently to a useful (h264 at fairly high bitrate) format? I have a ton of media that requires transcode on-the-fly, and while it can be done manually it would be great to be able to avoid on-the-fly transcoding for the majority of my devices (Roku, Chromecast, etc.).

Hi, welcome. Yes - it is. Not exactly during auto-orgnanize, but the folder sync feature can convert content to streaming friendly formats. You can read more about it here:

I just wanted to tell you (and the rest of the team) that I greatly appreciate your constant activity/dedication on the product and the forums. I just got a new homelab/server and Emby is the tits. I will be getting lifetime as soon as I get my paycheck. You guys deserve EVERY PENNY. Keep rocking on fellas.

Strangely, I set this up - it looks like it started on my pictures collection (odd, showed 5 thousand-some-odd items, which is the number of pictures I have) and never got to my videos. Is it expected behavior to try to re-encode images?
