pir8radio 1312 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 This has been happening with the last few versions of emby.. It happens few and far... but still sucks... I'll find that one instance of ffmpeg.exe seems stuck, any attempts to trans-code a new stream fails.. I have to go and find the stuck ffmpeg and terminate it, then all of a sudden like 10 ffmpegs start up and start trans-coding what people were trying to watch, even if they are no longer on the server. Any ideas to fix this? Is it just me and my setup? Maybe add some kind of ffmpeg watchdog to self terminate stuck trans-codes?
ebr 16187 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 We are working on this but what usually causes it is someone starting a transcode and then stopping it before it actually starts. Live TV or a stream with burned in subs are probably the two biggest possibilities for this.
pir8radio 1312 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 10-4 Thanks for the info. I have no control over what my users do LOL so it kind of sucks that one of them can take out my server.. Well, I may use a third party app to monitor ffmpeg's CPU usage, anything with 0 cpu usage for XX seconds will get terminated.. See if that works, or breaks things...
