Luke 42080 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 For those running the beta who use the Chrome browser, how's your experience? We've heard you loud and clear that you want to avoid transcoding as much as possible, so let us know what you're seeing in this new version 2
bmoses 9 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 love it so far! the audio was still transcoding on most of my mkv (which was expected) but everything was very fast to start playing! almost instant to a second before video would start playing. i tried several MKV movies, live TV, recorded TV, and an MP4 (which did direct stream) and everything was snappy and fast to start playing. very nice and awesome job!!! 1
fraenhawk 61 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Lol, can never tell whether to post web client issues in the Web Client forum or the server one (since IMO, they're one and the same). Even @@Luke posted a question about using Chrome (which would imply web client) in the server forum. I posted a question about Chrome and this build over in web client here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/28596-new-chrome-permissions/
Tranquil 94 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) I'm not able to open the settings menu on my chrome instance using chrome on windows. It just nothing happens. Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Any others? Tried but my library wouldn't come up at all. Library Scan kept giving an error. I had to go back to the DEV version. I am guessing the DEV version did something to the database.

CBers 7451 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Yes correct. You'll need to stay on dev until the beta or stable version number exceeds or matches your dev version. If/when that happens, and you have server updates set to beta even though you're running dev, should the beta version be automatically installed? http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27593-unable-to-start-emby-beta-server-after-installing-over-dev-version/&do=findComment&comment=274019

CBers 7451 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 It has for me, in the past. I've had my server update set to beta for over a month and it's still running dev, hence the question
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 I've had my server update set to beta for over a month and it's still running dev, hence the question Right, but what is your version number? If the dev version is still higher than current beta or official then it won't update until then. Since there have been minor updates in the last 7 or 8 updates in current official cycle. 3.0.5813.x vs 3.0.5781.x
CBers 7451 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Right, but what is your version number? If the dev version is still higher than current beta or official then it won't update until then. Since there have been minor updates in the last 7 or 8 updates in current official cycle. 3.0.5813.x vs 3.0.5781.x Not sure beta has been higher than dev for a while, as betas have only been point releases recently. I've changed it back to dev for the time being. I'll wait for next major beta release.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 The official / beta have been 5781.x for awhile, but the dev has jumped from 5813.x to 5828.x in the last two weeks.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 My issue was due to the PowerShell.script that automatically updates the service. It doesn't seem to check version, just upgrade level. It wasn't due to Emby's automatic updater. Just that the automatic updater doesn't work with the Windows service installation. I need Emby to work without worrying about logging in a specific user when the Media Server boots.
enthous 0 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 It seemed painfully slow just navigating around. Also, I couldn't get to the metadata manager at all. Nothing happened when I tried to go to it via the menu nor if I did an Edit from a particular item. Reverted back to the released version.
ebr 16185 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So need to wait for beta >= dev then. Correct. That is what Luke was trying to say.
Luke 42080 Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 This version has now gone stable for everyone to enjoy. Get it now in time for the holidays. Thanks to everyone who participated in testing 1
