theusedversion 36 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) I made this thread about a week ago concerning using Collection for Actors and Actresses. Every once in a while the images that I uploaded would revert to a cover art for one of the movies in the collection. It rarely happened at about 4-5 times in the past couple of months with a ton of restarts in that time. Well today I started up Emby to work on the Collections some more and to my surprise about 80% of the images that I uploaded disappeared and in their place a cover art for one of the movies within the collection. 80% of 250 collections is a ton of work. Luckily, I have backups of all the photos I used for collections but it's still going to take me a few hours to go through and upload again. I restarted Emby again before doing anything to see if it was just a problem with that start but the problem persisted. I started to delete all photos in the Edit Images screen before uploading a new one in hopes that the other images are deleted and would keep the problem from happening again. 1.) So that's the bug I want to report.2.) Question: Where are the images for collections saved? I'm would like to take a look at the folder(s) to see what images are in there. Maybe the old cover art is still in there from when I created the collection along with the uploaded image so I would just have to go into that folder and delete the old cover art and hope that the collection then shows the uploaded image. 3.) Question: How is it even possible for the uploaded images to disappear like that? Edited December 14, 2015 by theusedversion
sh0rty 717 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 1.) I cannot reproduce that and I never had such issues. 2.) Emby-Server\data\collections 3.) Normally just in the case, when images get downloaded from sources (fanart, moviedb...) when refreshing incl. replacing all images.

Ok, I'm going through the folders and all the original images that I uploaded are there. But it's not showing on Emby. Here is a photo as proof. Elizabeth Olsen has the uploaded image in the folder but shows a cover art for collection. I haven't refreshed or done anything that I reckon would cause this. If I did, I would think that it would affect all of them.
geaves 13 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 What appears wrong with the image is that the box set/collection are based on an actor for some reason which is wrong as collections are grouped as films. I use the collections plugin to group films into collections and this is visible both on Emby's dashboard and metadata. Something needs to be either edited or deleted then add the collection plugin and let it run, don't know enough about the inner workings or db's to point you in the right direction.

No, I specifically made the collections specifically for actors and actresses as I linked to in the original post. Regardless, it shouldn't matter. You can make collections concerning any criteria that you want.
sh0rty 717 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) @@theusedversion Since Liberal Arts is a movie in which Elizabeth Olsen is participating, I think Emby is using this cover randomly out of the collection as collection poster. This is the case with all your replaced covers. Why Emby is not recognizing your poster, I don't know for sure. Pretty sure because Emby is searching for movie collection data and not for actors since it's kinda "misuse" of the plugin. And "misuse" causes unwanted behaviour sometimes. Edit: In Metadata Manager you can lock the images for every Actor collection, This should solve the problem Edit 2: Small question, why you just have ladies in your collections ? :D Edited December 14, 2015 by shorty1483

If I created a Star Wars collection, then I would add all the star wars movies and upload my own photo and then the same thing would happen. It's the same thing. Whoops!! should have read the thread fully instead of skipping through it I think shorty has the best and most logical answer, once your collection is created with the image you want then lock it to prevent further changes, the downside would be you would have to unlock it to add further films to it.
theusedversion 36 Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 How do I lock a collection? Oh, in the Metadata Manager? Cool, I will try that.
theusedversion 36 Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 F*ck, F*ck, F*ck! So I worked on the photos for a couple of more hours right after I posted this thread and had intended to Lock the collections. I got through 2/3 of the covers and then I went to sleep. In that time, most of the covers reverted once again back to a movie cover. Ahhhhhhh! I immediately restarted to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Also cleaned browser cache. Nothing. The correct images are showing in the Collections folders under AppData. So here are the last 4 logs from Emby since the time I was working on them. Some of them are quite large. Please someone help me! :'( Log1.txt Log2.txt Log3.txt Log4.txt
Pais 125 Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I just noticed that this also happened to me. I had manually gone through and added posters for ~50 collections which don't exist on TMDB. Those posters are now gone and have been replaced by one of the posters of the items in the collection. I don't know when this happened as I haven't been watching much from the collections section for some time so I won't post a log. Just a heads up to everyone that whatever is causing this doesn't seem to be resolved.

If you leave them alone and don't try to reupload the poster again, it will eventually revert back to your original upload. Like right now, I have a dozen missing the posters I uploaded. Some time and a restart or two later, they will be back to the original poster I uploaded. But by then, a new dozen or so are missing posters. Just letting you know so you don't end up in a cycle of reuploading your posters all the time like I was. Just let it go and they will revert back eventually. Probably the best way to handle it until it gets resolved.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Additionally, if you're making your own posters be sure to back them up! Edited March 28, 2016 by Deathsquirrel
Pais 125 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 This hadn't happened to me in weeks, but just came back on 3.0.5935.0. Did anyone ever figure out a way to bring back the custom posters? I can confirm that the custom posters and backdrops are still in the \data\collections folders.
