dsig 2 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 I am thinking of moving to Emby (currently use MediaMonkey) and wonder what users of Emby think of it .. are the devs working on it and are 'new features' really usable features? My primary focus is on Video .. and older "smart" tvs/players require a good dlna server .. how does Emby stack up?
Beardyname 198 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) I suggest you test it for yourself to see if it matches up good with your hardware!. I can only speak for myself but I have been here since it was called mediabrowser 3, and have been using it daily on a bunch of devices for the last 3? (can't recall really) years. *edit* I should also point out if it fails to play to your tv, we can almost certainly make a new dlna profile for it so if it fails let us know! ebr 16187 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 As Beardy said, you will have to make your own determination on feature suitability to your needs. All I can say is we strive to implement the best features possible and that development is, indeed, extremely active. Welcome to the community!
Sparrowlogins 18 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I have been using the software since it was called video browser years ago. Have been through many iterations and probably a bit biased. Give it a go, I am sure you will enjoy using it. It's easier than some other software to configure and works for me
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 I've never used DLNA as a primary client interface but in playing with it, Emby make the least awful DLNA user experience I've tried. If that doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement, you can blame DLNA tech. I'm pretty sure the goal was to make things as slow and unpleasant to use as possible.
