pir8radio 1312 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Lol... I just noticed Cast & Crew are missing from all movies unless you click the "latest media" from the home screen... When did this change happen? I thought you could click a movie and cast and crew was always listed.... If this is a new feature, how do you get to cast and crew now? Thanks. ebr 16184 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Is this on a mobile device? Is it there in the "..." menu?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Do People appear in the metadata? <Person> tag in xml, <actor> tag in nfo or People dropdown box in metadata manager.
pir8radio 1312 Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 (edited) @@ebr This is using chrome browser on my win 10 desktop... when i click ... it is NOT in the list... That's why i was curious... the only place cast and crew show up now is any movie i click that is in "Suggestions" and "Latest Media". If i go to "movies" top tab, then click a movie, no cast and crew, but if I go to the "Suggestions" tab then click a movie, cast and crew show. @@Happy2Play People are in Metadata Here is what i see when i click ... speechles 2055 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 (edited) This is chrome on android, same server version. Desktop works the same as well. Is this related to the "people migration" problem? I had problems with search never returning any results and just timing out. Also problems with using by actor and it never showed all their movies. Since the fresh pure install I've made all these problems are now gone. The migration seems to inherit this problem. I have yet to get all people images as I hardly ever run that task which is why they just use placeholder images. Edited December 11, 2015 by speechles
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Should only be two reasons Cast and crew aren't displayed. Not in metadata or custom CSS removing them.
pir8radio 1312 Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 Well @@Happy2Play it looks like you are correct. I "assumed" all of my cast and crew info was there, because it always has been. So i guess the true issue is all of my cast and crew info is gone on most of my DVD collection... If I go to ... and manually hit refresh, they come back... So what happened to them? and how do i get them all back without having to refresh each dvd?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 You will probably have to do a refresh at library level.
pir8radio 1312 Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 (edited) Oh well, I have been using eMBy for so long and i didnt even know you could do that.. lol great.. that makes things easy. @@Happy2Play ok, well i looked and cant see how to refresh the movie folder? Edited December 13, 2015 by pir8radio
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Go to Metadata Manager and select the library, then click refresh. You might get away with doing missing metadata only.
pir8radio 1312 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Tried that didn't seem to work,, Ill give it a go again. Edited December 13, 2015 by pir8radio
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Can you post a log from the refresh.
Abobader 3464 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Best to try full refresh at the top level of your library as Happy2Paly said. I found out sometimes, doing refresh with the option "missing" will not fix the issue.
e123enitan 275 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) Server Version 3.0.5781.5 I just rebuild my server yesterday, what I noticed is all the cast both Movies and TV shows are blank, as many times that I refreshed Scheduled Task > Library>Refresh People, nothing seems to happen, this not just for one movies but the whole movies and TV shows. Does any have idea how populate the cast, please don't suggest one at a time as my collections are huge. I did a further dig into C:\Users\Media\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\views the content of this folder is blank, this is strange, how the system scan could have excluded such a large number of cast, pls any propose solutions Edited December 15, 2015 by e123enitan
ebr 16184 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Refresh people will only fetch information for people already in your collection. To get the people associated with each item, you would need to refresh the items themselves. So, try refreshing a movie that is missing cast information and see if that does it.

Sorry mate, this solution is a dunting task.My movies collections is over 2000, TV shows over 150, 8000 plus episodes , going through each movie atva time does not seem an effective solution. I can understand may where only few are missing but when the whole movies are missing actors that is a serious issue, which requires the root cause of the issue and then solution to eradicate this from happening on a going forward basis. I am going redo installation tonight this would take a while to complete due to my large collections then review the cast, if the issue persist I shall post system log for dev to troubleshoot Edited December 15, 2015 by e123enitan
ebr 16184 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Try it on one and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, you can refresh at the top level and go have lunch .
e123enitan 275 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) Try it on one and see if it fixes the problem.(that works but not efficient, this process will take forever) If it does, you can refresh at the top level and go have lunch .(could pls elaborate on this process "top level" how do I get into this function? Would this approach refresh and populate all missing cast picture without manual intervention?) Edited December 15, 2015 by e123enitan

e123enitan 275 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Suggestion to refresh metadata at high level did nothing, after several hours of rations, looks as if the system pulling data, but when I checked this path, search for poster, only those which I manually pulled are still in the folder.
