tsmarcus 2 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) Thanks ebr!!! But why was Permission denied? I am able to play it on the Media Center but not on the android app or the web. This is just started to happen & it's hit & miss. Most DVD TV shows & DVDs play perfect but now its happening more. Also noticed when fetching TV on DVD episode info I'm not getting the correct metadata back. When I get back home I can Post the Large Server log files. Thanks in advance. bluemonkey07 590 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Maybe your media center has rights to access those folders/files but your emby server does not
tsmarcus 2 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 Thanks for the response Vidman, I did think of that also. But when I open the folder on my Laptops I am able to play the Video_TS file with no problem.
Raff 51 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Just a SWAG, but what user owns the files? What user/log-in do you use on your media center and laptop? What user was used to install Emby? Since it is happening more now - what did you change?

But when I open the folder on my Laptops I am able to play the Video_TS file with no problem. Is the Emby server running on your laptop...? If it is running as a service see: Unable to access media when running server as a service
tsmarcus 2 Posted December 15, 2015 Author Posted December 15, 2015 (edited) Thanks ebr & Raff, Sorry for the late response, was out on a family craziness.... The EMBY Server is running on a dedicated core i7 HP desktop HTPC that is only used by me & the laptop has the MC Emby app. The only thing that has changed was 2 Synology DSM updates & a few Emby updates. I do 90% of my watching throu Media Center with Emby, but the kid uses AFT & the Android App. the kid was the one that told me she could not watch a movie at college then I went to play the same dvd movie & it would not play. I'm just wondering if I should blow out the install & start over with a fresh install of EMBY 3.0.5781.5 was unable to play GoT throu the web interface see Log File transcode-24f06698-9292-48bd-86bb-8d99b9895b51.txt Edited December 15, 2015 by tsmarcus

Based on the error above, the problem is the server (user running the server process) does not have access to that location.
Raff 51 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Tis the season for family craziness! Do you still have your server log from that time? I saw a Dalvik request for GoT and the ever helpful "FFMpeg exited with code 1" @@ebr - if the server was having problems with the location, wouldn't CoverArt fail when treating the images on the same path? I am more inclined to think it a client permission problem rather than a server permission problem, especially if these are direct play. I have never used (so never looked at) the various Android offerings to know what is and isn't supported by them. I vaguely recall something about VLC, which does support the format, so I figure that could be the problem. @@tsmarcus - let's see if I get this right: - The server is running on a dedicated Win box, the laptop is running Media Center with the Emby plug-in and can play files. - The files are on a Synology NAS - None of the Android apps (mobile app or FireTV) work. Is that everything? No TV, no movies, no music? - Web client failed. What/where were you using the client from?

Raff 51 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 See post #2. FFmpeg was denied access to the file location. Nvm - I think this is a terminology issue. You meant the file, not the path, was not allowed. The file path (the "location" in my mind) is completely available to the server - since Cover Art does its thing just fine: 2015-12-09 17:19:40.9796 Debug CoverArt: CoverArt will treat \\DISKSTATION\TV DVD\Game of Thrones\Season 1\S01E01 - E02-thumb.jpg 2015-12-09 17:19:40.9796 Debug CoverArt: CoverArt using profile default for Winter Is Coming, The Kingsroad 2015-12-09 17:19:40.9952 Debug CoverArt: CoverArt using frame type Episode from image set TV for Winter Is Coming, The Kingsroad *IF* Media Center can connect to Emby and stream the file (based on Post #3, maybe I misunderstood and it was MC going directly to the share) then the question is - why did it work and the other clients failed? Actually, that is no longer my question now that you made me actually think about it! There is something different about the actual video file, likely owned by a different account or it was assigned different permissions when transferred to the NAS. This should be easy to determine with a quick check of its properties and if @@tsmarcus changed the way the files were created/transferred it would explain the increasing number of files with issues.
