damian 6 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Is it normal for your librarys to go missing at the start of a scan? I have 14 hdd attached to my machine and as emby starts my librarys aren't available until about 30 or 40% of a scan is started which could take 10+ minutes. Also sometimes I log in and my libraries are missing until I do a scan. Has anyone seen this?
pclausen 44 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I have a similar issue. After a restart of Emby, the clients only see some of my media folders. A rescan corrects the issue, but its annoying to have to remember to initiate a scan after a reboot to have all your content available to the clients. In my case, I have 50 hdds attached, but fortunately a scan typically completes in about a minute or two.
djonnie 14 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Add a "On application startup" trigger to the "Scan media library" scheduled task. This will solve your problem.

damian 6 Posted December 10, 2015 Author Posted December 10, 2015 For me a scan takes 30+ minutes. Any tips to speed up a scan? I can't find the option to turn off automatic updates for media. I just can't see it! I htink that was the recommendation for a lot of users. I though it was in metadata advanced but its not there, Is the setting still in the latest beta?

Are you referring to Real time monitoring? (Library-Advanced) With that disabled new media will not be added until a library scan is initiated. 1
Maximus Naxsus 20 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Same issue here.. The solution offered are workarounds.. I have 16TB and fortunately a scan take about a minute :-) However, it's pretty annoying.

(Library-Advanced) With that disabled new media will not be added until a library scan is initiated. I have real time montitoring turned off. When it was on my library would randomly disappear. I'm talking about a full library scan. There was an option to update meta data for already scrapped content. I can't find the option any more.

kjp4756 41 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I'm seeing this same issue on any new linux installs I do. I've done fresh installs of emby 5913 on both centos 7 and ubuntu 15.10 and they both have this problem; library doesn't show after full reboot or emby-server restart. Doing a library scan causes it to show again. This does not happen on my personal freenas server so I think it may be something with new installs. I'll attach a debug log from the ubuntu server. server-log.txt

This is not only with new installs. For me, this problem appeared suddenly two or three weeks ago after more than a year without ever seeing this problem. Initially, it was only some series on some hard drives that were missing (neither movies nor music, strange...) after a reboot of my PC or server restart (and a scan could solve the problem). It started to seriously annoy me, and two days ago, I decided to uninstall completely, to recreate my libraries. It's worse yet ! Only libraries on one of my hard drives are seen after a reboot of the PC or the server, and a scan always fixes the problem. So in the evening, if I want to watch a movie or an episode in the new ET, I am forced to go on the web interface and scan to be sure to have all my libraries available.
