Speed of initialising playback

Finally got Emby Server (latest version as of yesterday) sorted on Windows Server 2012R2 and endpoints are Windows boxes with Kodi 15.2 and Emby Addon installed.

The content of the library appears but when you click on a video to play it, it takes a large amount of time before it actually starts. 1 - 2mins start time. I had checked the option to play from the share rather than stream as I figured that would be quicker? and double clicking on the file in the share location only taks 10 or so seconds to start playing in Media Player which kinda of rules out slow network connectivity.

Any thoughts on speed related issues?

thanks

Using internal subtitles? Log would be helpful...

Need logs from Emby Server or from Kodi workstation? No Subtitle settings turned on Emby Server and default subtitle settings on Kodi.

Bump, which log did you require?

What device are you using for Kodi? May be too low powered to launch plugin paths. You may get a better experience if you use direct paths instead (in the add-on settings > sync option > use direct paths) and reset your database so your content is imported with direct paths instead of plugin.

This way, Kodi is fully in charge of launching the playback and it should be quicker.

Sorry for the delayed reply, wanted to do some extended testing to ensure had the problem sorted. I have the direct path option selected since my initial setup and the endpoint devices are i5 or i7 with SSD etc so their performance is more than adaquate for most aspects.

I think I have tracked down the delay to the NAS being asleep. Initial playback of the first video lags substantially but after this it seems to be reasonably responsive to playing new video's and navigating the library.

thanks for everyones assistance :)
