Folders Not Displayed in "Movies" Anymore

My "Movies" group/view in Emby is comprised of the "Videos" folder in Windows. In the Videos folder I have all of my movies (bet you didn't see that coming  :P ) and a subfolder for new movies named, wait for it, !New Movies!.

In Emby I used to select "Movies" and I would see my entire video library, including the !New Movies! folder.  I did this to avoid having to browse my entire movie collection to find the new movie I wanted to see.

This isn't working anymore.  The !New Movies! folder has disappeared and its contents are just incorporated into the rest of the library.  Inside the !New Movies! folder I had a "collection.xml" file though that doesn't seem to matter anymore.  On Emby server I don't have an option to mark the folder as a collection.

.

I have a similar setup in my "TV" view but here the subfolders are visible in Emby.  I can't see why it works like I want it to in TV and not in Movies.  Any ideas about how to fix this?

Thanks,

MJ

Hi, I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Can  you perhaps show a screenshot of the issue? thanks.

Just move your new movies folder up a level so it's in the same folder as your movies folder and then add it as a new movie library in Emby Edited by Vidman

OK, here goes.

The way I had things setup for years was when I selected "Movies" in Emby the above view would open centered on my !New Movies! folder (as seen in the Windows picture).  What I'm describing is similar to what you see in the picture for TV where the "TestRecordedTV" and "TestConvertedTV" folders/links are.

A few more details about the differences between these folders:

1.  TestConvertedTV is empty

2.  RecordedTV is full of .wtv files and folder.png (nicer to look at in Emby then a folder outline)

3.  TestRecordedTV contains several .wtv files

4.  !New Movies! contains 3 movies all organized into subfolders with their own media info/pictures etc.

!New Movies! used to contain a collection.xml file that doesn't seem to be needed so it's not there anymore.

Removing the exclamation points from the folder name doesn't fix the problem.

Vidman, your idea is my "Plan B".  I like the idea of grouping all of my movies together and then subdividing them but if I MUST subdivide them so there is some kind of separation I suppose I will.  Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Luke, any ideas based on the additional info and screenshots I posted?

have you taken a look at user preference settings? click the user icon in the top right of the web interlace -> settings -> home screen

You'll probably want to disable the enhanced view so that you can see your sub-folders.

You don't have to subdivide anything just move the new movies folder up a level as I suggested then you can configure emby to group them or un group them as you wish Edited by Vidman

You may have to set content type for those subfolders via Metadata Manager.

Vidman - Thanks again for the suggestion but this is not ideal:

The ideal is to have TV - Music - Home Movies - Movies.  These are top level groups.  Each top level group can then be subdivided.  This keeps the initial view in Emby nice and clean which is the way I like it.  I may not have a choice but to leave as you see it above.  The goal of this post is to try to figure out if I do and how I get back to it.  If I choose to group Holiday Movies with Movies (for example) ALL movies will be displayed in the same view.  As I mentioned in my initial post, I don't like the idea of scrolling through my entire media library to find a Christmas movie and, honestly,  I don't want to see the holiday movies in the list when it's not holiday time.

Happy2Play -- I see the Content Type setting for the subfolders in TV but it is missing from Movies

I also tried Luke's idea but  . . . yeesh.   This shouldn't even be an option.  It's EHS or bust for me (and it didn't solve the problem)!

Any other ideas are much appreciated.  Thanks for the help so far everyone.

That's not where he was pointing you.  Go to the web client, click on your user icon then select settings and Home Screen settings.  In there, deselect enhanced presentations for your movies view.
