Luke 42077 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 i need someone to setup a teamviewer session so that i can take a look at it. but please make sure you're on the latest server first.
PatInTheHat 0 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 I'd be happy to. Just let me know how you wish to proceed
Luke 42077 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 set it up on the machine with the server and send me the info
PatInTheHat 0 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Ran the latest updates and lo and behold my video_ts folders are showing properly again. Many thanks for getting that fixed! I am however having an additional issue with a handful of folders containing a mixtures of .mp4, .avi and .mkv files that are not showing up. Would this still require a teamviewer session to look into or are there troubleshooting steps I can attempt on my own?
Luke 42077 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 create a separate thread about it with more information and we'll go from there.
kathlik 0 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) Hi guys, Long time MB2 user just upgraded to MB3. I have also found problems with VIDEO_TS folders. However I have managed to get them working by deleting the series and movie XML files from the folder that also has the VIDEO_TS folder in it (hope that makes sense). I then refresh the metadata from the media library browser and then I get the play screen and can play the DVD. However, even though I clicked save after the metadata refresh, after a restart (WIN7), I am back to the same problem of a blank VIDEO_TS folder without the play button. So I am confused, I can make it work, but cant keep it working. This only seems to be a problem with ripped DVD's (VIDEO_TS folders). A possible key to the problem is that these (ripped DVD) folders that are not playing are showing as a TV series (in cover art) and display the red box with white tick (as if something is missing). The ones that are playing fine show DVD video in the cover art. How do I change a folder to be a DVD video instead of a TV series? All other file types play back ok for me. Any input would be helpful. Thx, Kathlik. Edited January 6, 2014 by kathlik
rms8 14 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I still have this issue. Keep in mind that I do not treat my TV Show folders like most. I leave everything in it's Folder structure. This worked fine in MB2. it says I can only upload 22KB of images so I cannot laod anymore to show what the carious screens of MBC look like as I drill down through the folders. Rob
rms8 14 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 i really only want to debug in the web client. if we fix it there then that will take care of it eveywhere else. Is there anything I can do to help (teamviewer wise) ?
rms8 14 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 i can teamviewer tonight. in about 12 hours if anyone's free I already have TV on my server, but in this case you need it on the client, correct?
kathlik 0 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Resolved my issues by editing the metadata in the video folders. The type needed to be set as DVD. I simply opened the XML metadata in notepad, changed the type to DVD and it now plays fine. I hope that helps someone. <Type>DVD</Type>

Consider it a coincidence.
kathlik 0 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) So why is it that I don't see a PLAY option when the metadata type is set as series? I only see an empty folder called VIDEO_TS. Edited January 6, 2014 by kathlik
Luke 42077 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 There must be some other variable at play beause that value will not change that at all.

jagerm 6 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I experimented with this a bit this morning. Basically VIDEO_TS plays fine for me when the parent folder is in a Media Folder of type Movie. But when it is in a parent Media Folder of type TV Show then no matter what it doesn't work right. For now I just moved the one episodal show (two volumes) I had stored as VIDEO_TS to my Movie Media Folder so it would work.
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Exactly how is it structured and named when it is an episode. I think it should work if you named the parent folder of the video_ts folder in a supported naming convention for an episode. e.g.: my tv show\season 1\s01e01\video_ts

WHen I try to play it just picks a random episode to play and I don't have a DVD Menu... must not have tested this well enough. Edited January 7, 2014 by jagerm
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Ah, okay. Yeah, I'm not sure we support that. If you were to introduce another folder that followed our multi-episode naming convention, it might work though. my tv show\season 1\s01e01-12\video_ts 1
Latchmor 584 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Mmm, I'm pretty sure mine works fine. Even though I'm using MBC all the time, I regularly update/test MBT. I know for sure the Movies play fine and I have definitely browsed through a TV Series no problem but I don't know if I've actually tried to play an episode in MBT! I'll test when I get home. My setup Movies = \\server\Movies\Movie Name\VIDEO_TS TV = \\Server\Drama\Series Name\Season 1\E1\VIDEO_TS This works perfectly in MBC. I shall report back...
ebr 16169 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Latch - that should work fine because you have an episode folder.

I tried the VIDEO_TS with ArcSoft TMT and got the DVD Menu fine, but since Media Browser doesn't support that it's no big deal to switch it over.

You are going to have the same problem unless you use the naming I suggested. Why not just introduce that episode folder and leave it as a rip?
