rsaxman 0 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Recently, movies will not play outside my home network. I can view my entire library, but when it comes to actually playing a video, I just get a spinning circle of death. Eventually I get a video error. My router is set to forward port 8096 as always. Any help would be appreciated. log.txt Edited December 5, 2015 by rsaxman

Luke 42083 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I'm having the same issue since the latest update I think. that log looks fine.
rsaxman 0 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 Do you mean my log looks fine, or thisguy's?
rsaxman 0 Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 I still continue to have issues. Playback is not consistent, usually movies will not play outside the network at all. When they do, I have to drop the rez to 240. The problem is the same across platforms, web API, iphone (with 4G), MBT. iphone returns a error playing video. I have a 75/10 internet plan and my ports are forwarded. This is a more recent development, I used to be able to watch my library from my phone or anywhere with an internet connection. any help would be greatly appreciated. server.txt transcode.txt
rsaxman 0 Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 as an update, I have taken the router out of the system and connected the server straight to the modem. The problem still persists. is it possible that this is a comcast thing? is there a setting in the new software that i have missed?
colejack 30 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 as an update, I have taken the router out of the system and connected the server straight to the modem. colejack 30 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Have you tested your speeds? Sometimes you're not getting what you're supposed to. Although in this case I doubt its your WAN speed. But you never know. What are the specs of your server? Processor, RAM, etc? What about media format? Are they very high bitrate? Are you able to view the processes on the server while trying to play remotely? Check and see if the ffmpeg process starts like it should. P.S. I'm no expert on Emby, I'm more of a server hardware/software configuration and implementation in general guy. Just trying some basic troubleshooting here.
rsaxman 0 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 It appears that the ffmpeg process is not starting
rsaxman 0 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 so i noticed that the Emby service was stopped. I got an error message when I tried to start it. i assume this is not right? pic of error message attached
rsaxman 0 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 After further trouble shooting, it does appear that this is a ffmpeg problem. I install Emby server on a different computer and added a file to the library. I was immediately able to access and play it from my iPhone. The ffmpeg process on that computer also immediately started. I tried to manually install ffmpeg on the server computer which appeared to be successful, but the process does not start when I try to play a movie and of course the movie never plays. I don't know enough about the ffmpeg process to troubleshoot any further
