Giving remote access to family member...

OK ,I'd like to really start using the remote access feature of emby as it relates to users who are not on my network, namely my brother who is across the country.  I've been using remote access for when i travel, and since I am the administrator, I am not as concerned with some of the aspects of remote access but would like some advice on other users.

I am trying to understand what is the best way to get my brother access.  I can create a user account within the server and I also see the Password tab where it looks like I can create a password for the new user. I know that password is used for local access security, but how does that password relate to remote access?

From what i understand, I need to have my brother go to emby and create an account, then I will need him to give me his username he created to enter into the server so he can access via emby connect?  is this correct?  or is there another way for him to access my server and watch media?

When he creates a username/password in emby, is that the same password that is entered into the password tab under his user account within the server? Do I leave that information within the server blank? when he finally logs into emby connect and goes to manage his own account (ie, change password/create easy PIN), will that update within the user account in the server?

And as far as limiting the bitrate, within the server there is an option to limit the streaming to some value, but once logged in, he can go into playback settings of his account and change that to a higher value, basically negating the limits that I'm trying to set. How can I remove bitrate options that are higher than the values I limit?

Or am I utilizing this incorrectly?

Thanks

Your methodology is correct for adding your brothers account. He uses his user/password for emby connect then he can select your sever to connect to and must enter his details for your server to access.

The streaming rate you set as Admin in your server is the max,,, it does matter what the remote user sets the server setting is the max
