Bert 49 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Suddenly my computer has a symptom where the mouse "stutters" and the computer locks up but only for half a second. Looking through resource monitor Mediabrowser Server was pegging my C Drive like crazy. Then after I closed that, it was system writing huge amounts.....then MsMPEng.exe. Here is a screenshot: As I am writing this it seems to be going back to normal....anybody have any idea what I should even look at? I'm confused as what could be causing this because there are few if any recent changes. Although it is the workhorse, it mostly serves Emby and WMC to computers and clients....I'm stumped where to even begin. As I am writing this it now is much improved and problems seem to go away.....
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Emby will write transcode, metadata and cache to your User directory by default. If too much is going on, it can use the drive's bandwidth. Especially if you're not using an SSD or better. This can be especially true if streaming media is on the same drive.
JeremyFr79 228 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 msmpeng.exe is windows defender (microsofts antivirus) you could disable real time scanning for media files and this would probably help quite a bit.
