rjay 21 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 New user to Emby and stumbled across it recently looking for alternative to central MySQL dbase for Kodi. Have Emby Version 3.0.5781.4 setup on Windows Server 2012R2 and Kodi 15.2 with Emby Addon on two media machines. Seems to be working fine mostly, have just added my TV Series path from NAS as a start. What I can't work out is why it is it seems to have got down the artwork for some series but not others, after a lengthy initial library scan it seems there are a lot of artwork missing. Subsequent rescans don't fix the issue. Have searched the net and tried any of the things I could find that seemed related but have had no luck. Things I have tried/checked/know; Artwork is missing not just from the Kodi end but also on the Emby Server so its seems to not be downloading the artwork at all Series are all named the same and path and format is \\multimedia\video\seriesname\season x\S01E01 episode name.avi Series previously has artwork found when just added to Kodi locally The items missing the artwork seem to have other details like the synopsis just no artwork so it does seem to be find the series as such Tested and user logged into Emby server has write permissions to the Series folder structure What should I try next ? Attached is a screenshot from Emby showing what I mean regarding the art work.
ebr 16185 Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Try editing one of those items and see what the data actually looks like. Since you had a previous Kodi setup, it may be a case of the metadata being read from your local drives instead of fetched. Is the option to download metadata from the internet selected? Are there metadata files in your media folders already? Are there image files there (perhaps ones that aren't compatible somehow)?
rjay 21 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 thanks for the reply ebr, don't think it is old data from Kodi. Attached is a screenshot of the data if I edit an item with working artwork, seems legit. Also a screenshot of the folder structure and showing the XML/photos present. The other folders that don't have images are just missing those files. Also attached is a photo of the settings and it does have the download metadata checkbox enabled. Any thing else I can check ?
ebr 16185 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Why is there a video file in the root of your series folder?
rjay 21 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 In this case it was a Special so it didn't fit in as part of the series I believe (not entirely sure as I haven't watched the series). There is folders alphabetically before and after this folder that have metadata though so I didn't think anything of the folder in the root. thanks
bluemonkey07 590 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Specials should go in a sub folder called specials or season 0
rjay 21 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks Vidman, saw that in the description of folder structures so I will change that up. thats not going to help my issue though I don't think as that is one of the folders that is actually working to get the art down, where as others do not. Whats my next step for diagnosis ppl ?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Since the poster/folder.jpg is missing for Prison Break and not present in folder, you need to post a log that may reflect why Emby is not getting the images. 1
rjay 21 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Easy so just the full log mentioned on the first page of the configure Server part of Emby ?
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Also does any of the other series have videos in root folder with nfo files. As seen in Prison Break folder you have multiple nfo files so there may be a conflict of what is trying to be read from root folder.
rjay 21 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12438931/server-63584870399.txt Above is dropbox link to Log file taken from Emby Server No most of the folders don't have any videos or other files in the root folder
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I would say a permissions problem. Access to the path '\\"EDITED"\Multimedia\Videos\Series\Prison Break' is denied. 1
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Doing search you have 2000+ items the are getting access denied.
rjay 21 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Ok thanks Happy2Play, now I did a basic check by going to said folder on the NAS and creating a txt file and a folder and it created fine. Does Emby server create the items using the logged on credentials of the Server or ?
ebr 16185 Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 That depends on how you are running the server. If it is the normal app then it is the credentials of the user running it. If it is as a service, then you need to configure the credentials. Unable to access media when running server as a service 1
rjay 21 Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Thanks mate, yeh this is the only thing that would make sense as the logged in user definitely has access to the Media folders. I have changed the credentials on the Service and rescanning the library. The Service was set to manual but I am pretty sure when I selected the server be run as a Service. I assume its called Emby Server now rather than Media Browser ? thanks
rjay 21 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Just to update, thanks for everyones help so far and I now have 90% of the Artwork working (I think it will just be minor folder structure issues or obscurity of the media content for the reason the other isn't found ). So now just to answer the questions regarding the Service. Its set to manual, is this default ? should it be automatic etc ? when I try to start the service it fails thanks
Happy2Play 9782 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 So now just to answer the questions regarding the Service. Its set to manual, is this default ? should it be automatic etc ? when I try to start the service it fails thanks Yes, if you want Emby to run as a service you need to change it to automatic or automatic delayed. Was Emby already running when you tried to launch the service?
rjay 21 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Easy! all sorted now thanks to all for the assistance.... now to add the rest of the multimedia to the library and start using
