kevaskous 0 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Hey i'm running Emby Server on Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 LTS fully up to date across the board. So far I've had no luck getting any artwork to appear at all, and I've checked the relevant folders and found none had been acquired even, to my knowledge. I've poked at this for a few days now and I'm kinda stumped. I also have run Emby on windows and obviously had no issues with it, anyone got any idea what's going on?
Solution Delphi 83 Posted December 2, 2015 Solution Posted December 2, 2015 its most likely a permissions issue ensure the user running emby has write permission to your media folders 1
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I'm 90% sure it does but assuming it does, what else do you think it could be? Also just in case I'm retarded how do you suggest I accomplish solving the perms issue? (I'm not a noobie to Linux but I'm moderate at best)
Delphi 83 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) This is what i run whenever i have permission problems from moving files around sudo chmod 775 -R /mnt/Media/Movies && sudo chown user:group -R /mnt/Media/Movies where user:group is my main user and group is emby... EDIT: To verify permission change to your media directory and run: ls -lah it will tell you who and which group has permission to each directory Edited December 3, 2015 by Delphi
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Changed up my perms structure a bit to make things like this easier but to not avail, it would appear to be doing exactly what it was. Which is not even download artwork, starting to suspect it's not even trying.
Luke 42077 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I would try to refresh a title with the web interface, and then please see how to report a problem for information that you can provide so that we can help find the problem. thanks.
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Okay attaching server log to see if that's any help but not sure it will be. Latest Server Log.txt
Luke 42077 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 2015-12-03 12:58:10.7726 Error - ProviderManager: Error in metadata saver Access to the path "/home/user/HTPC/TV/The Blacklist/tvshow.nfo" is denied. System.UnauthorizedAccessException Looks like you enabled saving of metadata in media folders but the Emby server process does not have write access. Looks post #2 was correct.
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 But.....I've given it every form of permission I can give it, it's part of the group that owns the folder, that has permission to write and read. That seriously makes no sense, and I followed that posts instructions just to be sure, that changed -nothing- (While making the obviously needed changes for my different file pathing etc.)
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Okay i gave the folder 777 instead of 775 seems to have fixed it but not sure this is a elegant solution. 1
vercinaigh 2 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Okay just as a update i returned to 775 perms and figured out i had set Emby up on the primary user account and forgot to add that to the group. group perms are certainly what i suggest, cheers for getting my head right! 1
