TV Shows - compatibility with SB and XBMC

I just realized one problem with TV shows for those of us (like me) using Sickbeard. The renaming function is great and I am using it.

Situation: thumb is being scraped nicely for every episode, but the naming convention (with XBMC compatibility) is "Show name s01e20-thumb.jpg" is not supported by Sickbeard. So if MBS scrapes the thumb and I later rename with Sickbeard, I have redundant thumb as SB only remains the episode and not the corresponding art.

One way would be to follow the XBMC/SB naming convention: Season##\filename.tbn.

Any chance or other idea how to keep the renaming function working in SB and still use MBS?

yeah, SB should change to latest Frodo naming convention....

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Frodo_FAQ#Local_images

Maybe request it on the forum...

Anyway, you don't need SB to do metadata or images, just the episode renaming (that you can control 100%)

Do you use the XBMC saver? You could use the saver to do all metadata and images using the Frodo XBMC naming convention...

If I understood your issue correctly.... <_<

Yes, you understood it perfectly. Agree with you that it is SB that should change. I have just posted on their forum: http://sickbeard.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8358.

What happens sometimes is that the episode name changes twice (e.g., fixing a typo on thetvdb) and in this case, I would like to use the renaming function. In this case, MBS would not delete the old posters and I would have plenty of duplicates. You know what I mean?

Let's hope that the SB folks will follow the new naming convention soon!

Hello,

Not sure which branch of SB are you using, but the one I am using actually have XBMC v12+ image naming convention in place. Feel free to PM if you want to know more details.

Thanks, this is great to know. I am using the latest master release for windows (build 502). Hope that the changes you are posting will be pushed to the master soon.

Is above a developer version or a fork?

My version is Alpha 502 and I don't see this.

Is there a more recent version or you manually updated the XBMC saver?

he's probably running SB from source. they take a while to introduce new versions. i ran from source for several months earlier this year while waiting for web-dl support to be pushed to release.

You mean grab it directly from GitHub?

yea. it's kind of a pain to setup so i wouldn't bother. plus it's like our dev builds, things might be broken and/or in-progress.

Ok, was just curious anyway.

The way I do it (and how I think users should) is to only focus on the episode renaming but no metadata or images; let MB server (or MetaBrowser, etc...) handle the rest.

Hello,

Yes, it is from GIT, I installed SB in my synology NAS, the SB package points to this GIT source directly.

At first I installed the same version as yours, but I found that there was no support for the latest XBMC naming convention, so I changed to this source. Somehow I found MB3 manages metadata of XBMC very well, so I use MB3 for metadata management now, SB for downloading TV shows and auto-file movement only.

Oh, this one. I prefer not to use this fork as it includes some spyware. Forgot what it was, but some counter or so. Hope that it will be implemented in the masterbranch soon.
