invertedknife 13 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Is there a way for you to enable this? i know chromecast supports this. i can use my tv remote to play/pause other apps but it doesn't work with emby,
Deihmos 169 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I think whatever device you use will have to support it and not emby. The nexus player and i think fire tv has HDMI CEC and so does the raspberry Pi. To get CEC support on a PC you will need something like the Pulse 8 adapter. Edited November 22, 2015 by Deihmos
bluemonkey07 590 Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) If you mean emby theater on windows yes you would need a hdmi-cec adapter and theater would need to support it, which it doesn't atm. Kodi however does support it Edited November 22, 2015 by Vidman
jagerm 6 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Pulse 8 HDMI CEC adapter, libCEC driver, and Event Ghost is the way to go. I'm using that combination to control my tv/amp power and volume when I hit the green button on my remote. Works great. The adapters show up on EBay every now and again for around $35. If you end up going that route let me know and I can share my Event Ghost script to get you started sending cec commands.
bluemonkey07 590 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 (edited) Not really helpful unless you can go the other way. What is being asked is to control emby from your tv remote. Ie receive cec commands rather than send them Edited November 23, 2015 by Vidman

Ie receive cec commands rather than send them It is possible to go the other way too. The CEC adapter can read the traffic the TV sends from the TV remote and with Event Ghost you can then look for that CEC code on the wire and then fire a Media event or Arrow key etc that the Windows based Emby client can act on. The one thing it won't work for is having the TV remote turn on the PC. As the CEC adapter has to be powered on and the driver running in order for it to process commands. snake98, I will PM you the script later tonight when I'm home from work.

invertedknife 13 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 i am actually not sure how the CEC technology works. but chromecast is able to use it. for example the netflix app can be played and paused by the tv remote. unfortunately, the same does not work with the emby app. i am guessing the enable CEC support the chromecast app will have to be updated? but to be frank i have no idea how it works so i am asking minds more experienced than mine.
Luke 42080 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Hi, we've pushed changes to our Chromecast receiver to enable HDMI-CEC control. Please try it out. Thanks !
