Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 I was just wondering what causes the Etag to change? Will any change to the item, like playstate or metadata, generate a new Etag? I just want to speed up the compare process in Kodi, however I need to figure out what will cause the etag to change to see if it's better for us to use it, than the manual checksum we are using.
Luke 42077 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 yea any saves to the database for any reason. 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Ok, that's good. One more question I forgot to ask - is the etag assigned per user, or per item? For example, if a different user watches something, will it assign a new etag, for the main user even if it hasn't been watched? Well actually, I could easily figure this one out (Answer is by user if anyone else is wondering). Thanks for your time Edited November 27, 2015 by Angelblue05
Luke 42077 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 currently, no, the values that affect it are not user specific
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Oh? I marked something as watched under a different user and I checked the etag was the same under my user? Does the watch status have an effect on etags then?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 (edited) Ah ok, then yeah... it's not ideal. Oh well, I'll keep our manual checksum for now. Hopefully at some point, we can have etags based on user playstate. Edited November 26, 2015 by Angelblue05
