matty87a 8 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Have a load of NFL/EPL games that I usually have as home videos, but as home videos don't seem to be coming to kodi anytime soon I've changed this library section as a mixed library instead to try and be able to access it on kodi as well as everything else. Unfortunately none of the Files are being detected as movies - is there a way to force mb to think a certain file is a movie? Sorry if it's obvious and I've missed it but it's been driving me mad.
mjktg99 35 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 The only way would be to create a folder location in emby server and designate its type as movies. You can call it whatever you want just the type needs be set as movies.
matty87a 8 Posted November 15, 2015 Author Posted November 15, 2015 So this will force Emby to see them as movies? Also can I stop it downloading metadata for this one specific folder? Don't want it u doing all the current metadata I've done manually! Cheers
thefranklin 0 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Does playback work for these files you are talking about? If not, what format are they in? There is an option to lock metadata for a folder. You can also throw in pictures (into the folder) titled as poster.jpg they will show up as the main picture.
Luke 42078 Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 In terms of fake movies, I would suggest using the media stub method: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Media%20stubs
matty87a 8 Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 when done as part of a mixed library but set as Movies - the Web UI shows and plays these files (mkv mostly) and allows me to edit the metadata but kodi does not see these in its library - however it does see the section exists. i have tried setting the directory up as a specific TV library and renaming the files in 'showname - seasonXepisode - title' format but they are not picked up by the web client at all then. Home videos work fine but obviously do not show up into kodi. I know it surely can't be this difficult to add in your own media and have it displayed and played across all devices i just don't know what I'm missing. stubs seems promising - I've set up 2 stub files as a test and, whilst they display in the library - I can't see how to map these to the corresponding media file...again thats more than likely me missing something obvious but how would i do that? or am i barking up the wrong tree? thanks for the help
Luke 42078 Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Well for stubs there is no media file because I thought you wanted fake movies. The typical use case for a stub is you have a library of dvd's sitting in your book case but don't have digital versions of them. You could also try setting you the library as Movies, and then you can use metadata locking to prevent the server from trying to download metadata for them. Note that since you can't do this ahead of time, inevitably it's going to do it for some titles. If you do this you'll need to check your file naming against the supported conventions.
