Emby Server blocked by Norton

Ever since my upgrade to the Emby branded server app my norton anti-virus has been treating the Emby server as a virus. When starting the Emby server app Norton blocks it, quarantines it and makes me reboot my PC. The only way I can get to my media is to shut off Norton auto-protect. Please help with this issue.

Thank you.

There are several topics on this.  You will need to make an exception in Norton.  I would report it to Norton as a false positive also.

Marking as exception does not work. Each new update sets off reputation. Its flaged and deleted because its unknown and not enough people have . emby is software i wish i could use but the developers really need to work with the other vendors to see if their reputation can be improved. The solution cant always be the same old general make exception and contact the av vendor. Its called emby now not mediabrowser so why be lazy and not update the file names to get around the av problem. Do something to help users to be able to access their sofware! Its not like norton is a small av vendor. Would like to use emby over other free products like plex because its streaming is better than plex.

Hi, believe me we have filled out the form for exception many times. But you're right, we really should be doing it so that users don't have to.

Soooo, does that mean something is being done? It is becoming more of a pain than it is worth honestly...

Between getting deleted by av and then service not restarting after reboot my hopes of this software replacing wmc are diminishing. This was probably the best for me right behind wmc. Will try software another time when it gets a bit better and norton quits doing stupid things.

Keep at it as it is well worth it.

I have got rid of WMC out my life now and even the wife likes it!

Norton is awful at blocking stuff; I regularly have to go and sort out a friends PC as it's blocked a DNS name or a new app he's installed. There are far better AV solutions out there for the consumer imo.
