Emby Connect and 'Select Player'

If I am on a different network (say at a friends place), and sign in to Emby Connect on their laptop - will the 'Select Player'/Play To/Remote/Stream To... show clients on their network, or on my network at home where my server is?

It will show sessions with that server.

I might add, I have had no luck with Rasp Pi with Kodi at my parents nor at my brothers place.

But I have successfully casted to friends Chromecast and at other friends place I was able to see it on Device list but didn't test. I don't know if browser plug-ins have something to do with it or not (their browser, didn't dig in) and I have never used chromecast. Neither of said friends have never used Emby.

Chromecast is the one exception to the rule so on this case yes. For everything else what ebr said
