leebo 12 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 There is the familiar "Cast" icon when I access the server from a Chrome browser (in my home network). I am referring to the cast icon at the top right of the server page, not the cast extension at the far top (browser bar). However, when I click it, the only option is, "My Device". I have a 1st gen Chromecast on the same network, and I can cast to it from my android phone and tablet using the emby app. Are we supposed to be able to cast from within the Chrome browser on a Windows based machine? I can cast from the Chrome extension (i.e. my Chromecast shows up there), but the videos play very choppy, like a slide show. In my experience, screen mirroring video is a poor experience.
Luke 42083 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Yes and it's pretty automatic. The chromecast api tells us if a CC device is detected or not. So i guess i would just check that your browser is up to date. Chrome is up to 46 now. And check the extension too. Also if you're refreshing the browser page and immediately checking the icon, give it a good 10 seconds or so first.
leebo 12 Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 It reports I'm on version 46.0.2490.86. I just installed the extension an hour ago. Not sure what to check next. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk

So why is my Chromecast showing up in the Chrome extension, but not in the Emby browser page? Edit: OK, I got it. I have VPN software running on my server. I wouldn't think that should make a difference since it only blocks Internet traffic, but maybe that just shows my ignorance. In any case, I disconnected and then my Chromecast showed up. Even after reconnecting the VPN software, it continues to show up. Edited November 13, 2015 by leebo
