tymanthius 18 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 I will have 16GB of mem as of this PM. I'm already moving /tmp (my temp partition) to tmpfs. Would there be any downside to moving the cache dir there as well? I reboot around once a week or less unless I'm fiddling with things too much. I just don't really understand how cache is used here, so I'm not sure if that would be a benefit or if it's a bit more 'static' and shouldn't be wiped on reboot.
Luke 42077 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 if you are constantly wiping the cache you will notice some increased cpu usage as clients request images in various sizes. the server performs the re-sizing on the fly and caches the results.
tymanthius 18 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Ok, thanks. As my 'normal' server blew it's mbrd last night, and I swapped in my main pc that wouldn't be a problem. Went from dual core at 2.6 to 8 core at 3.6. Fun. So I may do that w/ this one, then re-adjust as needed.
