HD Channels are Choppy, SD Channels Fine

Recently picked up a HD Homerun Extend (Hdtc-2us) and I noticed that when watching Live TV on emby via roku that the HD channels are choppy. The SD channels are clear. Any idea on what could cause this, and how to fix it? I'm a first time poster so I will be happy to forward any additional needed info.

Very possibly the server having trouble keeping up with the transcode but that's a guess.  Look for a transcode log.

Hopefully I attached the correct file. If you need anything else just let me know.

I also read through some of the posts and I wonder if it could be my processor

It's an Intel Pentium Dual e2160@ 1.8ghz and the box has 4gb of ram. I'm running server 2012 on it

I know it's crappy but I've been able to use it as a storage server for home videos and pictures. I've been thinking recently since I purchased the Homerun that I might "upgrade" the video card and sound card but if I need to upgrade the processor (understandably) I may think about buying another used box with more power. (The fastest processor I can get for this btw is a Intel Core 2 Extreme Socket 775. I think the fastest I saw is 3Ghz)

I've been out of the tech/IT scene for a few years so any help is appreciated. I'm fearing I'm going to have to build a new box.

Yeah, you are getting like 6fps on your transcode there.  But, it looks like maybe you have debug transcode logging enabled.  Try turning that off.

yea you're only getting about 5-6 fps. try turning off debug transcoding logging as it can have an impact. i've actually taken this option away for the next release.

I unchecked the developer options and it seems a little better but it is still choppy. I shouldn't have to reboot after I make the change do I?

No.  As you surmised, that processor is not going to be able to handle much.

unchecked the debug transcode logging as well. same problem

If I upgrade to the Dual Core Socket 775 processor I mentioned earlier do you think it would make a difference? If not is there a recommended specs I can look at to help guide me in buying a new pc?

Just wanted to let others know, I replaced my Intel Pentium Dual Chip with an Intel Core 2 9550 which is a quad core. A co worker sold it to me for $40. I'm watching HD TV Fine So far. Now I need to find out why I can't find the option to record

Posted

Well done. do you mean in Roku? There should be record buttons on the program info screen.

Yes In Roku. Would that be under channels or Guide? I don't see it in Channels and Guide says I need to be an active supporter. Do I need to buy the Emby Active membership?

Posted

No, just highlight a program, click on it, and there will be a button titled Schedule Recording.

When I go to Guide I'm able to do it (btw I had to update the guide on the server), but I'm only able to record the first three stations

Duh...looks like I need to do it on the emby app not roku. Thank you so much for all your help!
