I really like the Auto-Organize feature and when it works it is sweet

I don't understand why it doesn't work sometimes.

here is an example

I manually directed this file to the right destination (which..i think it should have found automatically)

here is the log referencing the failure

Unable to sort V:\Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmare Series 7 - Costa del Nightmare (2014) mp4  Series repack\Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (UK) - S07E04 - Costa Del Nightmares 4 (14 Oct 2014).mp4 because target path could not be determined.

it says the path could not be determined but... the target folder is set up Series name/Season #  and that info is in the file name.

does this log snippet clue anyone in to why its not working?

thanks!

I suspect auto-organise is looking for the show "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (UK)" as per your filename but your server knows it as just "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares"

I don't have this show but you could confirm by clicking the folder icon in auto-org next to the failed file to see what your server knows it as and make sure your file is named exactly as shown for the series name.

It's not looking for anything except a series in your library with the same name

thanks to both of you. I thought that if went to the file and pointed to a destination, even if not named exactly the same, it would just use it. I'll try to be more particular about making the name match the file name exactly.

Interesting, I misunderstood your first post to mean you used the manual intervention (using the folder icon on the right of a failed episode) which worked but you were just trying to understand why it did not automatically identify (hence the '(UK) stuff).

But you are actually saying you did do the manual intervention (i.e. click folder icon on right, select series from drop down, click ok) and that failed for you? This should not happen. If you have intervened and identified the series then the file (whatever it was called) should move.

I just tested myself to be sure by badly naming an episode so it would not be recognised and fail, identified the series by clicking the folder icon and emby moved the video to the correct series - all ok here (I'm on a current Dev version but not sure if any work has been done in this area since last release).

This is the issue I am having; Manually selecting the folder, choosing the series from the drop down menu, and typing in the season and episode number simply DOES NOT WORK - but ONLY for one show; 'Once Upon a Time'. I tried deleting the folder and creating a new folder, but it hasn't helped.

Why would the manual intervention not work??

OK, so because there is another 'Once Upon a Time', then when I tried to add an episode from the 2011 series to this folder manually, Emby was like 'dude, there is no season 5' and so it failed. When I changed the folder name to have (2011), it all went OK.

What is weird is; in the Metadata manager, I had pointed it to the correct 2011 series. So it's strange that it had all the artwork for the 2011 series, but had some metadata and the theme song for the older show.
