neo_hijacker 2 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Hi, I just installed Emby Server version 3.0.5768.7 on Windows (and on Debian 8) and I have the same issue : With some mkv files, the playing in the Web browser does not start properly. No error message, just a background screen according to the selected movie. When I check process status, ffmpeg is running but it does not consume CPU. Moreover, ffmpeg is still running when I stop the player I finaly found a workaround by disabling subtitles and clicking to play again. Please find attached bellow : - Transcode log with subtitles disabled - Transcode log with subtitles enabled - Server Log (All extracted from my Debian 8, my Windows Server is busy at this time, I can extract it later if it is necessary) How can I solve this issue ? Best regards, transcode with subtitles enabled.txt transcode with subtitles disabled.txt server log.txt
Luke 42083 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 the subtitles have to be burned in which can be pretty taxing. if these subtitles were external, the app would just download and display them separately. if interested, try playing in Chrome. if that helps then upgrade to firefox 42 beta, which adds new features and makes the video streaming more like chrome.
neo_hijacker 2 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Hi Luke (may the force be with you ) Unfortunately, I have the same issue with Chrome 46... Does I understand that subtitles integrated with MKV are not playable with Emby at this time ? Best regards,
Luke 42083 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 no they are playable, and work fine for a lot of people. it is just not performing very well on your machine.
neo_hijacker 2 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 When you said "my machine" you should means my server ? or my client machine ? For your information I have this issue only with a significant part of my MKV files. But the main part of my MKV works properly. With the same machine, Plex Media Server works like a charm.
Luke 42083 Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 if you can provide an example file i will test it.
neo_hijacker 2 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Yes, I'm uploading an example file to a private server.I will follow the link in your private message box.
neo_hijacker 2 Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Link sent ! Thank in advance for your feedback,
neo_hijacker 2 Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Hi Luke, Have you found the time to test the mkv file provided last friday ? Best regards and thank in advance for your feedback
Luke 42083 Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 This works fine here. I think what's happening is that it's slow to burn in the subtitles on your machine. For the next release, we're going to eliminate the burn in which should help it start quicker.
neo_hijacker 2 Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Thank you for your feedback ! I stay tuned for the new release :-)
neo_hijacker 2 Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 Hi Luke, I give you a feedback. The issue was solved with the new release (3.0.5781.1) ;-)Thank you for your support !
