dyertm 3 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Hi All, My apologizes if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find the information I need to resolve my issue. Recently within the last week something either updated or changed and my Movie collection view has completely changed. I've been using Media Browser/EMBY for 3+ years and my file structure hasn't changed. I have a dedicated folder called Movies. Inside of this folder I have my own Genre specific folders such as Sci-Fi, Marvel, Action, Kids, etc... Each one of these folders then contains individual movies in their own folders. Each file level from the Movies folder to the Genre folders to the individual movie folders have their own "folder.png" image files. Prior to whatever changed my movie view has always showed the Genre folder images and allowed me to navigate to whichever Genre I was looking for and then access the movies under that category. Now I'm stuck with Suggested titles, Collections, etc. If I click Movies I get every single movie I own, which is probably over a 1000 at this point. What has changed? Is there a switch I need to turn on in EMBY at the server level that will allow me to navigate the way I did before or do I need to rebuild my file structure in some way? I'm frustrated as I've never had an issue before in the many years I've used this software, which I love by the way. Any thoughts? Thank you! Troy
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Sounds like you want folder view for your Movies folder. Look at View Styles. User Icon top right-Settings-Home Screen settings-View Styles
dyertm 3 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Hi Happy, I've gone through every setting I could find on my server. Posting on the forum was a last resort step for me as I can usually resolve anything I come across. Here is what I am seeing when I open the section you referenced. Windows EMBY Server 3.0.5768.7
dyertm 3 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 File structure as follows: Genre Folders: These would show up previously when I selected Movies on the EMBY clients. I could then select a specific Genre and browse the movies inside that folder. Movie folders inside of specific Genre folders (Sci-Fi):
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 What browser? Have you tried clearing your Browser cache (Ctrl+F5)? Can we get a screenshot of what exactly you are seeing? Have you tried toggling the setting and hitting save? I know this still works because I have a server with movies in A-Z folders and toggling View Styles off shows A-Z folders. So you Emby library point to F:\Movies\Movies?
Luke 42083 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 can you show us what you see in the web interface?
ebr 16187 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Look at the very first set of options in this settings page...
Luke 42083 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 the problem should be the grouping settings at the top. disable them. just to calm your fears a little about confusion - for new server installs that grouping is actually off by default now so you'd never notice an issue like this. since you've had it installed for a while, you have the previous defaults back when we used to have grouping on by default for everyone. also i can further improve this settings screen by not showing grouping at all when there's only one movie/tv folder, because when there's only one of each, there's nothing to group
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Grouping won't make a difference if there is only one library. Selecting Movies
dyertm 3 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Hi Luke, That was the ticket and thank you to everyone who chimed in. I figured it was something simple, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. The other options are pretty cool, but my wife and kids are used to the simpler folder Genre setup that I've been using so that's how it will stay Happy wife, happy life 3
Luke 42083 Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 it might be different for his older install. he should still disable it. 1
