NVidia Shield - Watched and Resume Play

I recently purchased the Shield, and had a couple of questions. Should the "Watched" icon get set automatically, and is it possible to pick up from where you left off in a show/movie?  Presently, neither is working for me.

Yes, those should work but they really shouldn't have anything to do with the app (but, you didn't specify if you were using our TV app or something like Kodi).

 

In order for those features to work, you need to have valid media info on the items in question.  Does watched and resume functionality work with the web client?

I'm using the "Emby for Android TV" app. All my media resides on my synology NAS and I have my HTPC running the server. Watched and resume does work over the web client. I can also resume items on the Shield under Continue Watching that have been started elsewhere, it just seems any activity from the shield isn't getting set on the server. I'll keep looking and see what I find.  Haven't spent a whole lot of time with it yet, but was something I noticed right away, which is why I thought it was Shield/Android TV app related.

When you are playing something on the Shield, does it show the proper length and progress in the OSD? Can you jump backward and/or forward or jump directly into a chapter?

 

Also, when playing on the shield, does the proper progress show up on the server dashboard?

It does show the proper length on the OSD, and I can jump forward and backwards. None of this seems to show up on the server dashboard. EDIT: Dashboard shows what is playing, just no change in the progress bar. However, when I jump to chapter, it does change the progress bar on the server dashboard. And, after using chapter jump, it appears under continue watching list.

Okay, so, for some reason, the progress reporting during playback is not working.

 

Can you please turn on the debug options in settings, then go play something that doesn't show progress properly, then immediately back out and send the log.  Then come back here and tell me the name of the Emby user you were using. Thx.

Well shoot, there is too much noise in the log for me to be able to see the playback.

 

Can you post your server log here instead?

OK, this might be of use (or it might be nothing, LOL)  According to the Shield, User is Flip, according to the server dashboard, user is Mom&Dad.

Well, that does sound like the problem.

 

How do you log in on the shield?  Is the login saved or do you do it each time?

Startup behavior is set as "Login as Flip"

If I logout of Flip, from the settings menu and then login again as Flip it does seem to work properly after that.

And does it continue to work properly even with subsequent auto logins?

No after I exit emby and restart it, it does the same thing when the Shield shows one user and Server dashboard shows another.  I have to logout and login manually for it to work properly.

Try going in and changing the option to show the login screen.  Then go out and come back in, logging in as the user you want - then set the option to auto login back again.
