rubenverhoef 11 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Hi, when i (admin user) log in to the server web ui i go straight to the admin page. Is there an option to disable this and default go to the start page like other users? thanks!

But i tought this is a general server "problem" i posted it here. Bookmark it is one option but i would like to have a real "sollution" for this so when i acces the web ui from an other pc it works also. I understand there is no option to do this right now?
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Sorry. I don't know anything about how Emby works on Linux. Hopefully someone can help.

I don't think this helps the OP regardless of platforms. If you go to that page and you are not logged in, I believe you get redirected to the log-in page. Once you log-in, if you are an admin, you get sent to the Dashboard. I can understand why in a multi-user environment, where admin accounts only admins and users only consume, but for single-user environments like mine it is a slight annoyance to flip through extra steps to see the homepage. I would personally be fine with everyone going to the Home page after log-in, but YMMV. An option for Admins would be nice, but I think I like consistency more than yet-another-checkbox. Why not just stay logged in on a single user account? On my admin account, I go to that page because it stays logged in within the chrome browser at all times.
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Am I too cynical because I'm laughing about a BSD user complaining that when they always login as an admin, even when they don't need admin rights, they get taken to admin tools? You could raise an enhancement request I suppose. You could stay logged in and just bookmark the desired page. You could create different users for your admin work and general web viewing. I don't see this as a bug personally.
fraenhawk 61 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I noticed that this morning and thought it was odd as well. When I log in with the web client with my Kids account it goes to the Home screen but if I log in with my Adults account it goes to the server management screens instead of Home. Isn't the primary use of the web client to watch things, and manage should be secondary? BTW, I'm not sure this is a server issue anyway. Web Client has its own forum.
Luke 42079 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 the default should stay as it is. if we were to change it for admins, i can promise you we will see a lot of "issues" being reported by new users that they can't find the administrative interface, even with the button always up in the right corner. a great alternative is to use the online web client as this is considered more of an app and this always opens to the browsing area http://app.emby.media 1
