Emby for Kodi 1.1.39 not pushing playstatus to Server 3.0.5724.6

Hello!

I am having issues with Emby for Kodi properly announcing the play status of Audio files back to the server. Sometimes it works, but most of the time, the Kodi addon recognizes the playback start, with something like

14:55:24 T:140008394659584 NOTICE: Thread PAPlayer start, auto delete: false
14:55:24 T:140009952765696  NOTICE: EMBY Player -> onPlayBackStarted: musicdb://artists/159/622/7622.mp3?albumartistsonly=true&albumid=622&artistid=159
14:55:25 T:140008377874176  NOTICE: EMBY LibrarySync -> DB Version: 1.1.39

in Kodi's logfile. The emby server however does not see this notification at all, and therefore doesn't support Kodi remote control, and proper last.fm scrobbling from the server.

Any help there? Is there anybody with a similar issue?

EDIT: I haven't mentioned that everything works just fine with videos, TV shows and movie remote control works as fine as scrobbling to trakt.tv

I'm having the same issue. I've just switched to Emby so I assumed music playback reporting wasn't implemented yet. I can't get it to work with direct streaming on or off, can you give an example when it does work for you?

I've checked my logs and also tried the latest github version, and there I stumbled on the following:

21:58:02 T:13540 NOTICE: EMBY Player -> logMsg : Could not find itemId, cancelling playback report...

Also, the Kodi music database doesn't contain links to the plugin as with videos (plugin://plugin.video.emby/...) but direct paths to the songs (C:\...) or an URL of my emby server (depending on direct streaming yes or no).

Is there a way to redirect music playback to the plugin as well?

i am pretty sure it's not possible at this time as kodis music library/database works differently than videos

Vidman is correct. I am working on the report back at the moment, but at this time it is not possible to have the same behavior as with videos because of Kodi limitations.

Ok, thanks for the info, but what exactly won't work? The scrobbling for last.fm or the remote control? Or the recognition of the playing music by emby at all?

We can't put in plugin paths in the database like we do for video content. This means your music is a set path, either direct or remote path. You can't go from direct play to direct streaming. I'm currently implementing the report playback for music which will be in the next beta build. It will come to stable eventually.

Ok thanks, that is really good to hear. AFAIK, the current stable is 1.1.39, the current beta 1.1.50. Any info which stable / beta version will support this feature with an approximate ETA?
