Dave001 2 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Hi, I have Emby Server running in a docker on an Unraid system, with two HTPC's running Openelec\Kodi with the emby addon, all working great for the last couple of months. I've just added a Raspberry PI2 running Openelec\Kodi, it's also working well, except when it comes to playing Movies, it's taking 45-55 seconds to start a movie, sits at the Emby - Opening Stream window, TV Shows aren't a problem, they start in 5-10 seconds. Here's a copy of the log: http://xbmclogs.com/p4yuhf3jg Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave
mgworek 134 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I have the same problem with my unread server pi2 koi setup but its been like this for months. Even if it has to wait to start up a drive, it shouldn't take this long. I've posted about it before but never got it resolved. My library scans also takes like an hour to hour and a half to finish. Tv shows are done in sections but when it hits movies, it crawls.
xnappo 1611 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) @@Dave001, Multiple problems - first your Pi is not able to access the file, and is falling back to playing through HTTP. This means that you do not have path substitution set up properly on the server, or that you are not providing your network password. You need to resolve this, then go into the Emby settings and turn off 'Play from HTTP instead on SMB'. Second, with the Pi you may want to turn off direct paths - this will make the playback exactly the same as if Emby was not being used, but you will give up transcoding capability. You will need to reset the DB after changing this - so make sure the first problem is resolved first! This is the section of playback of interest - you do not want to see the 'Can't direct play' message. 14:40:46 45.539906 T:1601897536 NOTICE: Parameter string: ?filename=Game of Thrones - s01e01.mkv&id=524777682af47e2b9422bc26952477e2&mode=play 14:40:47 46.237827 T:1601897536 NOTICE: PLAY Called 14:40:47 46.772339 T:1601897536 NOTICE: EMBY PlayUtils -> Can't direct play: Play from HTTP is enabled. 14:40:47 46.779907 T:1601897536 NOTICE: EMBY PlayUtils -> The video quality selected is: 100000000, the video bitrate required to direct stream is: 19514011. 14:40:47 46.780567 T:1601897536 NOTICE: EMBY PlayUtils -> File is direct streaming. 14:40:47 46.983418 T:1601897536 NOTICE: plugin.video.emby stopped 14:40:48 47.218910 T:1968189440 NOTICE: DVDPlayer: Opening: http://192.168.1.2:8096/mediabrowser/Videos/524777682af47e2b9422bc26952477e2/stream?static=true Edited October 19, 2015 by xnappo 2

mgworek 134 Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 yes sorry, I was referring to the server library scans. I know they have nothing to do with Kodi but since he has the same setup and I do, i thought i would mention it to see if he has seen it or not. 1
Dave001 2 Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 @@xnappo Thanks for the reply. Finally got a chance to take a look at this again tonight, set the path substitutions correctly, I had the "to" pointing to the actual location on the server, not the location that was set in docker. Enabled "use local paths", reset the data base, and Movies are playing much quicker now. Thanks again for the help. @@mgworek I find the library scans take about twice as long on the PI2, as they do on the HTPC's. Has to be some trade off for a PC that can fit in the palm of your hand. 2
