Lighthammer 91 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Something I am a bit surprised Emby doesn't have already is a feature to tell you similar content that you don't already have. It seems like it would be easy to pull this info off of IMDB or similar sources. That feels like a big step towards getting Emby to feel more like a big media platform a la Netflix. I wonder if there's a good penny to be made by advertising media purchases this way too through places like Google Play or Amazon. Related, a feature that allowed you to notate media you HAVE but moved off the server (IE due to disc space issues) might be nice. I got a 3 TB HDD that is about 1/2 full right now on my main computer that has media that HAD been on my Emby server but isn't because I lack of physical space to add more drives (scary sad, but I bet a more common problem then most would be willing to admit). It would be nice if Emby could tell me "1980's Hulk Series was removed from Emby on XX/XX/2015" but still list it as a TV Series; but greyed out or something.
chef 3810 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) I really like the idea for suggested media items that aren't located in your collections. That would really be a cool addition. Edited October 16, 2015 by chef
ebr 16170 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 We don't have access to IMDb. We could probably use Tmdb to the same effect though. We do have a limited ability to do this now. If you have the Trailers plug-in installed and allow them in suggestions then they will show up but, of course, that will only be relatively new items. 1
MikePlanet 144 Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 ... easiest place to implement such thing would be the person page. We already DO display the content we have for that person - and it would be not too hard to add the content we do not have - as TMDB API offers that list for a given person - including the trailers for the items returned. http://docs.themoviedb.apiary.io/#reference/people/personidmoviecredits Content could be either merged into existing lits and tagged as "not locally available" - or displayed in a separate list. I personally would prefer the first choice, ordered by time descending...
Lighthammer 91 Posted May 28, 2016 Author Posted May 28, 2016 I wanted to poke this topic and see if any thoughts have been giving to this idea in the past few months.
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 we have this already for movies but not currently tv series.
Diedrich 377 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 In its current implementation I find "If you like X then you'll LOVE Y" laughable. It's pulling media suggestions from my library. Um, yeah, I KNOW I'll like Y - it's in... my l-i-b-r-a-r-y.
Fratopolis 63 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I believe their thought on this and why they did it is you watched a certain movie which means that is the type of mood your in so it is just showing you another like it to watch consecutively. I could be wrong but I love this. Great for kids when they are watching movies. I know whats in my library but others that come over do not. 1
