AdrianW 1058 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I have server 3.0.5762.39560 and EMC 284. (This may have happened one or two server releases ago). EMC hasn't been altered in ages - but perhaps something needs bringing in line with the latest server release. I have a collection of Trailers with a content type of "Movies" - this is just a folder full of manually downloaded trailers, so basically 2 minute long movies. I normally have the view for this collection set to "poster" showing three rows. Today I noticed that the trailers were in list view - so I changed the view back to posters. So, far so good. But, then when I went to access some newly added TV episodes direct from the EHS, the episode thumbs were showing in poster view - so I had to switch back to list view. Going back to Trailers and they'd also returned to list view again. It seems that my trailer collection and all the latest episodes accessed via the EHS somehow have managed to inherit the same id (or something). I also tried changing sort order which also affected both. Server Log EMC Log
ebr 16169 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 What that means is the DisplayPrefsId from the server for those two items is returning the same value. I kind of doubt Luke has made any changes recently in this area but he can confirm. When was the last time you accessed these? When you say "one or two server releases ago" do you men dev releases or true releases?
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) I'm on dev releases. I always access latest TV episodes via the EHS daily, but I access my trailer collection less often, maybe once a week or so. Would removing the trailer collection, scanning, re-adding the collection and scanning again possibly fix it? Edited October 12, 2015 by AdrianW

ebr 16169 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 When you say "collection" you actually mean Media Folder, right? I'm not sure exactly what would be required to fix it but you could try that. I'm just wondering if it hasn't always been this way - or at least for quite a while.
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 Yes media folder. I'm pretty sure it wasn't happening a week ago.
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 Rather the removing and re-adding, I tried just a name change for the media folder (which causes an automatic re-scan) - that fixed the issue. But, changing the name back again - brought back the same behaviour. I'll try running a "Clean Database" between name changes.
ebr 16169 Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Interesting. What is the name that causes the collision?
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 "Trailers". The actual folder on disk is "Coming Soon" - there was a conflict a few years ago with a physical folder name of "Trailers", which is why I switched to "Coming Soon". But, I've been calling the Media Folder in Emby "Trailers" for the last couple of year and everything has worked fine until the last few days. Cleaning the database between name changes didn't help. I'm going to stick with calling the Media Folder "Coming Soon".
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 13, 2015 Author Posted October 13, 2015 (edited) Was checking out my wife's login today - and two of her media folders have become linked as well. She has access to a different set than me. Another issue I noticed - going to Config > View Configuration in EMC - all of my folders under "My Views" are checked even though I have them all unchecked on the server. If I press down into the content of the page and then exit, all of my folders become checked on the server. Edited October 13, 2015 by AdrianW

ebr 16169 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 No errors in the logs but I can reproduce it. Something has changed in the Dev server that makes this not work anymore. Luke - you have any idea what it is?
ebr 16169 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Adrian - I think what has happened here is there has been a change to the structure of the underlying model objects which is breaking some of these things. Unfortunately, when I update the model in EMC, it has broken some other items that I will need Luke's help figuring out how to deal with them so I can't even test my theory quite yet. 1
Luke 42077 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 i can't think of anything, but let me know what you found
ebr 16169 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Specifically, I think the user configuration information changed such that I am no longer properly seeing the ExcludeFoldersFromGrouping list properly. But, when I tried to update the model I lost several components related to streaming that I was depending on. There is no longer a DefaultProfile, which my WMC profile that I had to have locally inherited from and the StreamBuilder constructor changed. There were also some other properties on TV series I believe I saw removed. I had to revert the model update to get my system functional again for now.
ebr 16169 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Adrian - try .285 and see if it fixes these issues.
AdrianW 1058 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Adrian - try .285 and see if it fixes these issues. 285 fixes the View Configuration page in EMC - it now correctly reflects and updates the settings on the server. Still have the linked IDs so changes to view for one media folder affects another.
AdrianW 1058 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Today I updated to server 3.0.5801.703 and I noticed that I was no longer having issues with linked IDs - i.e. all my EHS media libraries had their own unique view again - needless to say I was very happy. But, then I noticed there was an EMC update as well - and after updating from 287 to 288, it went back to its broken state. It must be something to do with those "PresetViews" - all my TV type libraries get the same view and all the movie type libraries get the same view - where way back, each separate library could have it's own view regardless of type. EMC version 288 also broke my library icons on the EHS - I'm now seeing those four panel dynamic images instead of the thumb defined in the library section of the Web UI. -edit- Adding a dummy image to each library in the WebUI and then removing it caused something to happen which has fixed my EHS icons in EMC. ebr 16169 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 It isn't broken it is actually by design trying to keep people from having to set a specific view style on all of their views of the same type. Possible I can override this design only for the top-level views. 1
AdrianW 1058 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 I guess that makes sense. But I did like the way MBC used to allow different layouts for everything.
AdrianW 1058 Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 Woohoo - 289 seems to have fixed this, I can now have different views for every library. Thanks @@ebr
