reggierat 18 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Being new to Emby i'm now looking at fixing the parental ratings on my movie collection so i can setup an account for my 10yo and take advantage of the parental controls. Just wondering the best way to go about this, should i be correcting the existing rating, or using the custom rating field? I'm wondering because this morning i corrected maybe 100 using the parental rating field, then this afternoon i upgraded the disk in my Unraid NAS that Emby is on, i did backup and restore but have now lost the changes i made this morning. So i'm wondering if someone could explain the best way forward.
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) If you're going to edit your metadata and not rely on the fetchers, saving the data with your media and locking it after changes is the best way to go. I would also suggest using both fields. Only you know the maturity level of your child and the official ratings are very broad. With the custom rating, you can override things if you feel it is necessary. Edited October 11, 2015 by Koleckai Silvestri 1
reggierat 18 Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 thanks for the quick reply most of the ratings pulled down by the fetchers are spot on, but i have some that are in the form of Rated R for **** and i have some weird foreign ratings here and there which need a little cleaning up.
legallink 187 Posted October 13, 2015 Posted October 13, 2015 Are the foreign ratings related to foreign movies? Or did they just download incorrectly? For the ones that just downloaded incorrectly, I would simply do an advanced refresh and see if that clears it up. As to manually editing, I believe that the server does not override manually changed settings automatically, so you can go ahead and edit them in the metadata manager.
