samykoka 0 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Hi , i'm using a registered Version of emby app , my movies library contains external srt subtitles all in Arabic language , i have a problem .. during playback the subtitles sometimes appears correct and sometimes not , all i sea is a punch of characters .. this is not the case when playing them on my pc ? this happens no matter the server sends data direct (Direct/v) or (trans/i) what i can do in server side to force transcode the right character set?? Thanks .
Luke 42077 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 do you also see this problem in the web interface?
samykoka 0 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Thanks for your fast reply , Yes the same problem happens in web interface , it says unknown language and then the same punch of characters shows !!! it must be something related to selecting default language script ... please what can i do ?
samykoka 0 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 (edited) also the same movies that display the correct subtitles on the AFTV still display correct in the web interface !!! one thing i noticed is the container , the .avi movies display correct , .mp4 display wrong ?? Edit : No , Container has nothing to do with this problem , sorry Edited October 8, 2015 by samykoka
wsramahi 7 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 Samy you need first to open the subtitle file in windows or your OS using notepad, if you see arabic letters correctly then just save it as UTF-8 and over-right the old one, ffmpeg do not handle ANSI characters correctly, this was the only solution i could find and its doing the job perfectly.
samykoka 0 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 @@wsramahi , Thanks mate , That solve my problem the problem is , i have over 2000 title !!!! so , i need to do this for all my subtitles
