JayGeorge 5 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Hi good folks of the Emby forum, I think this is something simple that I am missing but would greatly appreciate any help. I recently installed Emby and I'm very happy with it, the only issue is that i have it set up to only scan for new files. I have been into scheduled tasks and deleted all triggers in "Scan Media Library" yet it still seems to perform a full scan every day....not at the same time every day that bit is random. Do u need to turn it off anywhere else? Thanks, Jay
Luke 42083 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 the realtime monitor might be causing it. you can disable that too under library -> advanced
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 i have it set up to only scan for new files Real-time monitoring triggers a library scan when new movies are found., this doesn't happen with episodes. Not sure about other media types.
JayGeorge 5 Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 So real time monitoring triggers a full scan? That's kind of frustrating. I run kodi as my front end and have that set to incremental scans on start, but when emby does a full scan, kodi does a full sync on start up
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Kodi doesn't do a full sync on startup because of Emby's library scan. The two are not related. However it is possible your server is sending a massive update via the websocket because of the scan and Kodi then processes the data. The best way to tell is to check your Kodi log and see what it's actually doing. I don't know if nfos could have something to do with your server sending out massive updates. You should normally be able to have the two running. I know I do and don't have this issue. Edit: Do you have something that writes to your nfos? Like an external program. I will review the terms that we use in Kodi so we can clarify the differences. Edited October 7, 2015 by Angelblue05
JayGeorge 5 Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Morning, I have quite a simple set up to be honest. Emby does all the leg work, all the scans and Kodi is just the front end. Any Video files that go into my folders are all from Torrents and the only thing writing NFO's is Emby. Before Emby i soely used Kodi and the Kodi database. But I wiped Kodi and started the library fresh with Emby. Upon start up of Kodi, i get the "Welcome to Emby Server" message and then this is usually when i get the sync message. which is an incrimental sync, but even when my library hasnt changed it can still sync over 400 items. If a full scan is run, then it will do the full sync again Where are the logs kept for Kodi? Thanks, Jay
