jwill 28 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) Is there a MB3 equivalent to the MB2 override [tmdbid=123456] for specifying the exact TMDB ID for a movie in the directory name? I just started using MB3 (coming from MB2), and I noticed that MB3 is misidentifying some of my movies, despite my [tmdbid= overrrides. For example, I have "Cherry (2011) [tmdbid=47320]" , but MBS misidentified this as "About Cherry (2012)" for some reason. I guess MBS ignored the [tmdbid= override, and then got confused because there is more than one movie on TMDB with Cherry (2011). Correct one: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/47320-cherry Other one (appears to be porn): http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/84563-cherry Best result would have been for MBS to choose the correct movie based on the [tmdbid= override. Second best result would be for MBS to choose one of the two Cherry (2011) movies. But it actually chose "About Cherry (2012)" which is a terrible match with a different title and different year, I'd call it a bug. Also, I have the same problem as elcabong in this post http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/2327-wrong-movie-identified/&do=findComment&comment=43142 in that I have nearly 2000 movies in my collection and I do not know how many MBS has misidentified. It would be nice if MBS could add a tag about the quality of the match, say on a scale of 1-3 or something. A single, exact match of title and year (with no possible duplicates) would rate a perfect 1. If there is a single exact title match but the year is wrong, then it might rate a 2. If there is no exact title match, or if there is more than one exact title match, it would rate a 3. Then I could sort the metadata for the movies by this tag in descending order. Hopefully there would be a small amount of threes that I could go through manually and fix if needed. And some number of twos that I could double-check when I got the chance. By the way, when I change the directory name for a movie in my collection, what is the best way to force MBS to notice the change? Do I have to force the "Scan Media Library" task? It would be nice if there were a way to do it from the Metadata Manager, just for a specific CollectionFolder. Edited December 1, 2013 by jwill
Luke 42077 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 We're supposed to support those overrides. i'll double check them. But really, no need to do that anymore. When something is mis-identified, go view it in the web client -> click edit -> change the id -> click refresh from the edit page. We have a real-time watched that will see your folder renaming. In most cases that will be sufficient, although on some networks and file systems it may not see all changes. You can run the library scan to make sure. you can also refresh folders from the metadata manager, but right now that's a little less user friendly because there's no way to track progress or cancel it.

As I explained, I have nearly 2000 movies. It would take a long time to go through and check every one to see which ones MB3 has misidentified. Is that clear? I do not know which movies are misidentified by MB3, so changing the ID manually is an issue, since it would take a long time to go through all 2000 movies and see which ones are identified incorrectly. And I am not the only person with this problem. As I said, elcabong reported having the same issue with finding misidentified titles within a collection of over 1000 movies.
Luke 42077 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 The management interface will improve over time to find these sort of things. That's where dev efforts are going to be focused.

Do you mean click on the "Full Metadata Refresh" for a CollectionFolder? I think that could potentially take a long time if there is a lot of metadata to check and/or download. I just want the directory and filenames to be scanned for changes. The problem is that when I rename the directory for a movie in my collection while I am in the Metadata Manager, sometimes the list of movies on the left side and/or the Path of the particular movie I renamed does not get picked up by the Metadata Manager. I guess the answer to my question is that whenever I rename a movie directory (that is not automatically noticed by MBS), I should manually trigger "Scan Media Library". But it would be nice if there were a button added to the Metadata Manager that would just scan for directory/filename changes and nothing else. Edited December 1, 2013 by jwill
Luke 42077 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 simple changes to the file system will be picked up by the regular library scan, however, keep in mind you may still have a movie.xml sitting in that folder, so even after the rename, the server will just end up reading the xml file. That's probably why you're thinking the override doesn't work, because if you start with a fresh folder, it should work fine. so if you're going to rename, you'll want to delete the xml file first. of course as i mentioned before, you can achieve the same end result with less steps using the editor.

No, that is definitely NOT the case. The example I mentioned was on the initial media scan after I first installed MB3. The override was already there. I did not rename it. MBS just ignored the override for some reason, and then compounded the error by choosing "About Cherry (2012)" instead of one of the two "Cherry (2011)" titles on TMDB.
Solution Luke 42077 Posted December 1, 2013 Solution Posted December 1, 2013 I do see a problem with the movie override and it will be fixed in the next release. items that are already affected won't be repaired, but new items added to the library will function as expected. 1

Okay, thanks. What about the issue of MBS choosing "About Cherry (2012)" instead of one of the two "Cherry (2011)" titles on TMDB? Was that related to the bug you found with the override? Or is that a separate bug?
