Renegade334 0 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Hi, Since I'm relatively new to emby I have some (maybe) simple questions: Is there a list of supported formats the WebClient can use without transcoding? Are the formats browser specific or dependant on the Interface implementation? I hope these questions haven't been answerded before (I didn't find a thread about this). The reason for my question is that I run emby on a Server that is not fast enough to recode 1080p and more (even for 720p I have to set the Quality to low/fast transcode). I can perfectly play files via direct play, but I wan't to use the WebClient to see the covers and other info that it offers. Most of my media is avi (DivX,XviD) or mkv (h264,x264). As far as I understand I Need to recode (or at least remux) my mkv files to mp4. Can I direct stream mp4 files with h264 and AAC or AC3 with the WebClient or do I have to recode everything to MPEG4? Many thanks in advance for your help. ~Renegade334
Luke 42077 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 yes it's browser specific, but for pretty much all of them it's h264 video + aac or mp3 audio
