Brand new Emby server installation. Version 3.0.5724.5 .I am running a Lenovo machine with Windows7(64) that has dual core 2.2Ghz processor..... Went through the full setup process. Everything went very easily there. Identified my HD Homerun tuner and setup account for the schedules direct guide listings just fine. Launch Emby and begin tooling around, watched the little getting started presentation, setup all the options I wanted in the manage server tab. Waited until my hard drive scan completed...... At this point I can see all the shows on the hard drive that is installed on the machine I am working with, their running time, title and a basic screen grab of the content. I click on a show that I know is there and get the option to play, click play and get a black screen with controls at the bottom.........wait........wait some more....... nothing begins playing on the screen...... ever..... Leave this file and move to a different file, same result......

At this point I move over to the program guide and select a show, press play, same screen...... All of them have a progress bar, with pause on the left, a volume control on the right and the upper corner has adjustments for video and exit.......Try a different channel, press play, same screen.

By this time I begin searching the forum for breadcrumbs to help me get this running, I have no real Idea of where to begin. Nothing crashes or acts odd in any way. I know that I missed a step somewhere, I just don't know how to identify that step and resolve the issue.

This is attempt 2 to get emby running on my network, and  this version is so much nicer than the one I tried a year ago( with the server wmc add in ).....

I have attached the log file as instructed.

I really like the look and feel of the new version, so please assist me in getting it up and running.

Thank you for your help.

Are you sure that's all? Please also try a different browser like chrome for example. Thanks

Yes that was the only transcode file present at that time......

Yahtzee!!!!Using Chrome appears to work, sort of. I can see the files and call them to use. Some on the hard drive initially played, some of the channels played for a few seconds and stopped........ Al in all we are moving forward but incrementally. At this point I have watched a few minutes of standard definition live tv and a few minutes of stored video but it appears that I have come to another stalemate with the program refusing to play any video once again, and from any source. I have many logs this time, most of them transcode logs. There are 13 total new log files, but 6 of them have nothing in them....... I have attempted to upload all of them but the site knows that they are empty so it shows "Upload Skipped(No file was selected for upload)".....

Thank you for all the help so far, I appreciate it.

try some easier videos first. it's not so much us as it is that ffmpeg doesn't put as much effort into supporting wtv, there always seem to be issues here and there when it comes to transcoding them. the folder sync feature can help you automate conversion into more streaming friendly formats, and/or you could try to focus your playback on apps that can direct play the wtv's without any server transcoding.

If you are going to convert your files, may I suggest you try mcebuddy. Not only will it convert to a format of your choosing, it can also remove commercials.

Also think about your hardware. Transcoding is a very processor heavy workload. Your server might not be up to the task. Hence the effort to reduce the need to transcode.
