Emby not grabbing episode data

Having done a fresh install i am having trouble with emby not grabbing metadata for newly added episodes, i have tinkered with everything over the last couple of hours trying to work out why and am at a loss, here's what i have discovered so far.

When a library scan is done there is no .xml being added to the season metadata folder, going to the particular epsiode and hitting refresh does generate the .xml file but it isn't grabbing metadata from tvdb (it is getting the episode image though). After hitting refresh and going back to the episode everything goes out of whack, alignment wise (see image below).5605c1a13df75_20150926_74345.png

Even adding the tvdb episode number and hitting refresh isn't grabbing the metadata, checking the .xml after hitting refresh shows the only data being added is drawn from the filename itself so episode titles are showing as '2x01 - The Devils Are Here' instead of 'The Devils Are Here'.

I looked through the log file for a reason and i seem to be getting this message for every tv show... 'Warn - App: Series files missing for series id 146711' (obviously theres a different number for each series), if this is referring to the .xml files i am at a loss as the series xml files are all there.

Anyone have any idea as to why this has spat the dummy on me?? Have attached a log file if it's any help.

EDIT: I just added a series to test and metadata is being grabbed for Series/Season, so it seems to be only the episode data having the issue.

Ok so after some more experimenting i have managed to get episodes to grab metada but only if i refresh at a series level, it appears there is no longer a season.xml being generated though the season info is being grabbed and stored, which leads me to the question where is this being stored?? The main reason i had all the metadata saving within the folders is i run my server on a 60GB SSD, so not a huge amount of room to store there and if it's now being saved on that drive it could cause me grief down the track so better to deal with it now.

So am i correct in my thinking that i am going to have to go through and force refresh every series so that new episodes are recognised??

Here's where i am at now...

If i drop a new episode in and do a library scan the episode is recognised but no metadata is added nor is an .xml file... If i go to the episode and click refresh i get an .xml file generated with local data only nothing from tvdb and the view freaks out as in the image posted above.

BUT if i go to the series level and click refresh the new episode collects metadata from tvdb and all is good, even the episode view corrects itself.

and lastly if i go to a series click refresh then drop a new episode in, same problem, the library scan sees the new episode but no .xml file is created and no metadata grabbed, however i can refresh just the episode and it will grab the metadata and create the .xml file, i guess because i had previously refreshed the series before dropping in the new epsiode.

So i am at a loss to understand why this is happening, at first i thought it was becasue season.xml was no longer being generated but looking through some new series recently added they have no season.xml file yet still managed to gather each episodes metadata with no issue. really starting to regret doing this fresh install :(

Would really appreciate it if anyone knows what the hell is going on because having to refresh a series every time i add an episode is going to get old real fast.

please put the logging in debug mode, restart the server, then reproduce the problem with new material on post the log from that, thanks.

I think i am having a similar problem! I am no longer getting .xml files being placed in media folders on my drive. metadata is being displayed in Emby  so must be creating xml's to my comp instead? I do have checked the box for saving artwork and metadata to media folders? could i be missing something?

What does Metadata-Services-use dropdown for each media type show for metadata savers?

Only option under Metadata savers: is .NFO! No .XML option? After a fresh install the Metadata saver option for XML appears but then vanishes after a system reboot? I would run the scan then but my network drive does not show in file path until a reboot happins?

Hi, XML-saving support has been moved to a plugin which you can install from the plugin catalog. I would consider using the default nfo though because that's really the format that is getting most of our time and energy.
