Not sure where to put this question...

I'm out on business and wanted to access my server to watch some of my media from emby connect at the hotel I'm at.  went to the website to use the online web app, logged in and I can see my server listed, but when I click on it, it says it failed to connect, to make sure it's on, etc, etc.  Well I can access my server via teamviewer and see everything is fine with emby server...so not sure what's goin on...any advice?  I did go thru and had it linked to my account before I left as well.

Thanks,

have you ever connected remotely before? you might have to setup port forwarding with your router.

actually I haven't...but I was trying to set it up via teamviewer (ive got a netgear) and either I'm doing it wrong or there is an issue.  the IP that the server is on is 192.168.1.80 and the port I use is 8096, but it keeps kicking back telling me that its already in use

okay..i think I see what might be casuing the conflict.  I go into the UPnP portmap table and it shows the IP 192.168.1.12 as using the 8096 port.  That IP is the old IP for the server that I used DHCP and changed to 192.168.1.80.  But the problem is, it shows as active but I can't figure out how to clear that out of the portmap table...there's no option to remove it in my router setup

That is a auto port mapping feature.  You may have to disable it and re-enable it.  You should have a port forwarding option on your router also.

Do you have port mapping enabled on the server?

Dashboard-Advanced-Hosting-Enable automatic port mapping (at the bottom)

well the portmap table shows 5 entries, 3 of them are the 3 clients I have on my home network and the other 2 are the older IP address that my server had with both the 8096 and 8920 ports, which are the emby ports.  UPnP is enabled in my router.  If I disable it, will it cause issues with my 3 clients?

I do have a port forwarding option in my router but can't add the 192.168.1.80 with the 8096 ports as it tells me they are being used..which is probably the UPnP table showing that 192.168.1.12 using port 8096.  Right now there is nothing on my network with 192.168.1.12 IP address..thats why I' wondering why it shows up as active

And yes, auto port mapping is enabled...

OK, well I just disabled UPnP and added all the IPs that where listed in the portmap table there as port forwarded.  I then added the 192.168.1.80 to portforward and it still does the same thing...keeps telling me connection failure...getting a little frustrating at this point...spent teh past 3 hours trying to get access to my server...IDK wht the prob is, if its my router or emby, at this point...

I have a Netgear router, and if you are not using the old settings, then simply delete the entries and you may need to reboot the router.

Until you remove the ports, you will not be able to reassign them.  If you want you can set your EMBY server to use a different port example 9040 (or something) restart it, and then go to your router and set up port forwarding for EMBY to use 9040.

In all cases, I do suggest rebooting the router to ensure proper re-assigning.  Just my 2 cents worth.

It's not Emby... As long as you have uPNP enabled on your router emby with forward the port automatically.

I have tried this with the emby android app a few times over the last month and it has worked flawlessly every time. Although it used a hell of a lot of data.
