We've also asked for the ability to display simple txt files or html files and nothing has happened. I just accept what Emby provides and then hope for a few of the features I am interested in to get implemented.

It would really be nice if txt files could also be read out loud. I can do that in Windows but I cannot in Emby or Plex. It is a lot like audiobooks. Emby finally fixed most of the audiobook problems but I still cannot use Emby for audiobooks due to hardware limitations.

My suggestion is to use some other software platform for anything that is not Video, audio (music only) or pictures.
I think it is a mistake anyway for Emby to try to fill all media niches. There is just too many "niches" for Emby to do everything.

Emby Server 4.9.1.8+ will now have a book reader in the web app for the following formats:

• EPUB
• MOBI
• FB2
• CBZ
• PDF

Please try it out once available and report your experience in the Testing Area of the community:
